Was there a factory nickeled version of the K32 Masterpiece (pre 16). I am looking at what appears to be a pre 16 with nickel finish. The hammer and trigger do not look to be nickeled but the ejector is not blue. I am not sure if the revolver is in the white with no finish. There is pitting but it looks to be under whatever finish on the revolver. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

NO. The pitting under the nickel should be enough evidence of a refinish. That being said, the Mod 16 is rare enough that a refinish might not totally tank the value. What's the asking price?

As of right now, the asking price is north of $2K.

I've only seen one of these in person. In 1988 we were in Livingston, MT and a couple friends called their buddy Mike Venturino seeing if I could drop by which I did. I had a Colt New Service Target .44 with me so Mike showed me his Triplelock Target and also his K-32. Both guns I recognized instantly from articles.

It would be a fun to shoot gun but seems a bit high. Not real sure what would be a shoot price would be. I found a pre 16 that was the the next batch right after the lerk 16's. Was laying on something and has minor pitting on one side of the barrel & cylinder where it laid. Really not bad, paid 900.00 and was happy with the purchase. Did a thread on it. Shoots good also. Good luck deciding, Larry

What about this K-32?

I looked at that listing and I think that gun is a blued gun that had the finish removed...does not look like any nickel plated gun I have ever seen.

I hate it when I see the word K-32. My wife's cousin had both the K-32 and K-38. I had no idea he was selling the K-32 but he did before he passed away. I was lucky enough to buy the K-38 from his wife.

Just for reference (not a buyer or seller), a K-32 described as "Pre-Model 16 K.32 Masterpiece, Four Screw, cal .32 S&W Long" s/n K432899" sold for $1,750 on GB, this January.

First shipment, July 22 1947. Last production, June 1973. Total of 3,630 manufactured.

The ship date recorded in the accompanying letter was listed as August 9, 1961.
