K38 Combat - original with TTTHTS?

One of my recent acquisitions is a 1957 K38 that came with an 8 3/8 barrel installed, plus a 4” model 15 barrel. I wasn’t sure if it was a pre-14 or pre-15 nor was the seller (online) but at the price I didn’t really care.

Turns out it has the frame cuts at the rib to match the narrower 15 barrel, but I haven’t seen a 15 with the 3 Ts - makes me wonder how it left the factory. Was this common?

Also pictured is another 15 that I pick up tomorrow. Not as pretty but tight as a drum.

If someone went to the trouble to put an 8 3/8 inch barrel on a Combat Masterpiece, adding the 3Ts wouldn't seem unexpected. The only way to find out how it shipped would be requesting a historical letter.

I had a model 15 (aka K38 Combat) that I bought new in the early 80's that came with the three T's. Wish I still had it. :-(
