K38 grips numbered?

My notes show the following:

• Early non relieved late-1948 to 1955
• Small relief cut sharp checkering turn 1954 to 1961

So, stocks are right for the time period of your revolver. 1950 is the manufacture date of that serial number. Assuming you are looking at a 6" Masterpiece, I think the price is high. since I think I am seeing some finish wear. On the other hand, stocks are selling for $200+ by themselves today. Check sold prices on Gunbroker for 38 Masterpiece revolvers and you will find that Magna K38 Masterpiece revolvers are selling for between $500 to $800, plus add a little for Target stocks, but they do not get much premium is sold on a gun. Also, there is no guarantee that Target stocks will letter to the gun and I believe most were put on post-factory. Bubble packs of target stocks were sold through hardware, sporting goods, and gun stores for years.

Can someone confirm when the K Targets with no relief were made? I've seen different dates posted online. The SCSW just says "used early 50's", but no specific years. Example below (acquired thanks to the Classifieds here). I was not able to correct the color balance in the pics. The grips are a chocolate brown color in neutral light. TIA!

I can't give you the exact years they were available, but from what I have read it seems that the non-relieved target stocks were only made for a relatively short period (maybe 5 years or so) and those are some really gorgeous examples.

I don't know how long K-frame, checkered, non-relieved target stocks were in use, but K-frame, smooth target stocks without the relieved area were used at least into 1957.
