Finishing up a horrible murder trial in New Iberia, LA tomorrow. Wife is involved with a civil jury trial same courthouse with her judge who will also will be hearing protective order petitions regarding domestic abuse. Anyway her judge gets a phone call from the supreme court that one of the abusers set for trial tomorrow was turned down by Walmart yesterday when he attempted to buy a gun. Same guy also threatened to kill her entire family. The guy is under a temporary order of protection against him which is thankfully filed with the Supreme Court and then put in the data base that is checked on the instant check system and denied the guy his gun purchase. I told my wife that Wal Mart only sells long guns so maybe he was getting a hunting rifle-and she says yea and maybe he'd getting one of those rifles with the carry handles that goes pew pew pew  (she tries).
So my wife and both will be in the courthouse tomorrow awaiting a crazy guy. Here's hoping the early heads up given to the sheriff office will pay off and there won't be any trouble. And lawyers carrying guns in the Courthouse is of course forbidden.
Oh and I'm getting my *** handed to me in MY trial.....
All in all a perfect capper for a lousy week.
Update:
Well the protective order guy went OK. We have a bailiff that runs the show who reminds you of Marsellus Wallace from pulp fiction. He is VERY protective of "his" courtrooms. Anyway, they had pictures of the guy and when he showed up he was escorted into the Jury room with Mr. Ed the Bailiff who promptly hat the guy take off all his outer clothes and then he wanded him. :D The guy was shaking. Told him that it wasn't a good idea to be trying to buy a gun right now and that if they caught him with it he was in a mess o trouble. Told him to "act nice".

As far as my trial, it was pretty intense and we'll keep it at that. Will have a verdict at 1:30 Monday.
As I type I am on my 4th Abita and am blowing off steam. Too drunk to drive anywhere by myself, but well sober enough to post.

Caj,pretty sure you'll be fine.just watch your six and stay in condition yellow.Don't envy you for what you have to deal with every day.And then there's all those lawyer jokes.Sorry had to add a little humor.

Give it your best and leave the outcome to Something Bigger than you. And if a whack job meant to do me harm, I'd rather it be at the courthouse. Local one is an armed camp. Joe

I hope all goes good for you. Be careful and keep an eye on your six....

Bob

Good luck, Caje. (Does your wife work as a court official or as part of your support staff? If not, wouldn't she be better off at home?)

So sorry to hear about the *** part!

What's to worry Caje?
The lawyer never goes to jail.

However, you might not get paid...

A bottle of Dickel in the evening after will make the world warm and fuzzy again. ;)

Hang in there. Caj! I'm thinking of you.

After the dust clears tomorrow, be sure and take Mrs. Caj out to dinner, and enjoy some good shrimp and a good stiff shot, or two, of good sippin' whiskey!

Best to you and Mrs. Caj!!
