guys,

i am trying hard to like this gun, and i know it's a performance center and that they don't make them anymore, but i still can't shoot it anywhere close to what i can do with my 686 or my 1911.

shoot more or sell, can't make up my mind. anyone else take a while to get used to their 952?

Wish I had one tho. Just keep it for a while and put it in the safe. After a while you might try it again and perhaps you like it more.

If not, please feel free offering it to me ;)

Unless you bought it for its "collector" value, the fact that you're not pleased with it should be a signal that you don't want it. Sell it, buy something you enjoy, and move on.

Since you don't like it, no one else will either, so selling it's out of the question. I can properly dispose of it for you... :D

i liked that one!

without a doubt, my capability as a shooter is the weak link here. i shot a one hole group at 15 yards yesterday (got lucky), but then had no consistency afterwards for the rest of the box.

Keep practicing. Sometimes I shoot great groups and sometimes my target looks like a swiss cheese... ;)

I wouldn't sell it, but I do understand the frustration. I feel the same way about my Model 52. There isn't much doubt about what the gun will do, but making it do that in your hand is another matter! (We can't get all that much pleasure out of what a gun does in a Ransom rest. :D)

Seriously, I understand your thinking and if you feel pretty certain that the gun is not for you, you might as well move on. I have held on to my 52 for many years, but there is no doubt in my mind that I will ever shoot it as well as I can a good 1911. I don't know why I keep the silly thing. :o

reading too many posts that go "like a fool i sold it..." makes it hard for me to move it on. the fact that they are not easy to find adds to it. i guess i am suffering from a mild case of collectoritis bangus, not to be confused with colitis or --itoris. (mods might censor this post)

Hello kidney, I understand your dilemma. I owned a very early 952 and years later, a 952-1. I really liked them both, beautifully fitted and finished pistols. I don't recall ever having a malfunction with either of them. That being said, I shoot the 1911 type pistols better. And, since I'm a 1911 type guy, the different manual of arms with the 952 series was a big factor in my selling both of those guns. I have other non-1911 Performance Center pistols in .45 and 9MM, but I shoot them very infrequntly. My 1911 type Dan Wesson PM-9 9MM groups as well as my 952s ever did. No lamentation of, "like a fool I sold it," here...ymmv
