Twin Peaks film director David Lynch dies at 78
David Lynch, the American filmmaker whose works include the surrealist cult classics Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has died aged 78...

"But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' … It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."

Lynch revealed in August last year he was battling emphysema, a chronic lung disease, from "many years of smoking".

Considered by many a maverick filmmaker, he received three best director Oscar nominations throughout his career for his work on Blue Velvet, The Elephant Man and Mulholland Drive...

Born in Missoula, Montana, Lynch first began a career in painting before switching to making short films during the 1960s.

It's been a loong time, I'm gonna have to find Mulholland Drive and watch it again. I never realized I ever watched a surrealist film. Either that or either I'm/the obit writer are a little shaky on the meaning of the term.

OK, later post made me realize I watched Mulholland FALLS!

I loved The Elephant Man, and The Straight Story (where Richard Farnsworth drives his riding mower cross country to visit his brother) is a favorite. I didn't even realize The Straight Story was a David Lynch movie until that great set piece with the woman who kept hitting deer whenever she drove.

I made the mistake of watching "Eraserhead" many many moons ago while under the influence of the Devil's Lettuce.

I can't say that I thought his works were that great, but JMHO YMMV.

One of my absolute favorites DUNE 1984?. Great. Not the new junky one. Also Blue Velvet- different, Wild at Heart and Mulholland Dr are great and of course Straight Story. RIP

OH, Tried to keep up with Twin Peaks, Liked Sherilyn, but worked morning watch for years and used to drink too much.
