Keith Brown Ropers Arrived Today. . .WOW!

These are really amazing! I don't like light wood and especially don't like French Walnut, so Keith offered to make me up a pair of grips to replace the ones I had bought about two years ago from a middleman on EBAY. An amazing and generous offer. Off the old ones went. Back in the mail to Keith the next day. Since I am not an N Frame person, owning only a dozen, I went for K Frame SB. I have dozens of them and love every one. Four weeks to the day of receiving my returned grips, these new and improved ones were in the mail. Got them today. Now that is FAST! After examining photos of many of his grips, we decided to go with American Black Walnut. The Ebony inlays were mandatory since they add so much. Personalization was out since I've spent way too much time removing the personalization of other people from things I've bought. The curvy bottom was out since I just don't like that effect. These new ones went right on my 1910 Target for which they were specifically made. I am going to try them out on a newer nickel Smith too. Nice thing is I can move these grips around from gun to gun almost infinitely. That should keep me busy for a while. I really can't figure out how anybody can do so much with a piece of wood. One of the more amazing things about his work is the perfect symmetry that he attains. I can't find anything that is not perfect regarding the craftmanship. The way he fits a tracing of your hand is also something that I can't figure out. The size, taper, and fit is excellent even though the tracing I did looked like something a first grader might do during class. After a decade of doing this, I think Keith is just getting better with time. I would like to get a pair of his grips when he hits his peak. . .maybe I did.

Just a FYI: there's a set of Keith's Roper style stocks for K-frame on the Bay right now. Wish I weren't so tapped out from my K-32 project and buying a house!

There are always some on EBAY in the $600 range. Mostly N Frame. It doesn't seem like these are the best looking ones that Keith ever made. Not a bad option though.

Those really look superb. I look forward to seeing pictures of them on your nickel gun. That may be a home run pairing. BTW, being non-relieved, be careful when ejecting your empties. You sure don't want to ding up those beauties.

Yeah, no kidding. I don't really ever shoot this gun. Now, with the grips on it, I only handle it when holding a towel.
