Been offered a Kimber K6s in trade. Normally not a fan of hammerless revolvers, but am considering it. Any thoughts or reviews. Also what is the stainless 2” model selling for? Prices on gunbroker completed auctions are all over the place.

You will have some idiot come on here and ask why you would want a heavy six shot when so many light weight 5 shot revolvers abound. Before that happens, I will answer prophylactically. Because they are heavier than the lighter ones and because they hold 6 rounds instead of 5. Now that we have that nonsense out of the way.....

I think it is one of the best revolvers made in a very long time. Mine, upon very close inspection, had no machine marks of any kind, any where. Fit and finish are outstanding and there appears to be no unwanted movement or noise of any sort. I love my S&Ws and my Rugers. My K6S is very accurate for a 2" and has an excellent trigger. It handles recoil very well because of its weight. I, for one, am a fan of hammerless/hidden hammer revolvers. Andy Lowry is right, the base model is about $700, give or take. If you can get one in that ballpark you should not lose much, if any, if you change your mind and decide to sell.

I see you are from South Carolina. If you're the one who won the lottery last night, live a little and buy yourself two.

If I had won the lottery last night, my question would have been about something other than a snub nose revolver! The weight of the Kimber would not bother me. My carry gun now is a 3” Model 65. If I made the trade I would have around $500 in the Kimber, so I don’t think I would get hurt if I don’t like it. My only real hold back is I like to have the option of shooting SA if I want. I started the post because I have heard in the past that the Kimber revolvers were over priced and not built to the quality of their semis but a little research makes me think they are really well built.

I have the 3" and I have to say that I have little desire to shoot my S&W revolvers after shooting this. The trigger and sights are that good. I can group tighter with the K6S than with any other revolver.

The only improvement I'd make is a slightly larger grip, preferably in rubber or with rubber inserts. The 3" comes with a beautiful wood grip, but it slips a lot when shooting, even with .38 SPL. I put a rubber sleeve around it and it's great.

The trigger stages so well you won't even care that it's hammerless. You do not need SA with this revolver.

I have a 3" K6S. For the longest time I had been looking for another 3" Model 13 to replace one that I foolishly let get away a few years ago. I am not longer looking for the Mod 13.

What's the trade? If it's your 3" Model 65, I'd say no, don't...

...just put the 65 in the safe, save up and buy a K6S quick as you can.

The 65 is a classic, hence keep it; the K6S is the best current production concealed carry revolver -- the revolver S&W should be building.

Get one and enjoy K-frame capacity and shootability in near J-frame proportions; quality build; all steel, no MIM; no lock; best stock trigger I've ever encountered on a revolver.

S&W should be embarrassed that Kimber has kicked their butt with a better product in a market segment S&W dominates; of course, that's probably why it happened...complacency.

Hopefully S&W takes notice...

I have heard nothing but great things about the K6 with the exception of their customer service with one that kaboomed. I would still consider buying one.

I have just over a 1000 rounds through mine. No issues at all.

38 special is a breeze. 357 mag however is no fun. I’ve shot Barnes 125gr rated at 1200 FPS. Hurts like hell but I can control the gun and follow up shots are no problem. Other 357 loads are equally as punishing.

The trigger is awesome. The sights adequate. The wood grips don’t tame recoil like rubber.

The K6 is reminiscent of a a highly refined Ruger SP101. Great carry gun and six rounds of 357 are very reassuring.

When I finally got mine to the range, it's a laser. The trigger will stage almost to SA. I ran wad-cutters up to full house 158gr .357.

Great trigger, great sights, too much fun.

I've carried from Airweights up to 640-1, if I had a descent IWB holster for the K6, I'd be carrying it. Currently I'm a no dash bobbed hammer Model 60.

And that is what's keeping me from buying one. My OLD SP101 was one of the first made in .357 and is positively a dream to shoot. I can stage the trigger, pull straight through or cock it. Is is SOOOOOOOO smooth it isn't funny. Minus-5 shot. Plus-exposed hammer. I call it a draw and since I already have the SP101 the Kimber is a no deal for me.
Now if Kimber ever made one with an exposed hammer and 2" barrel...................:D

I agree with this. The designers of the gun did their job well. You can see some of the best elements of other small revolvers in the gun. Heck, you can use Colt DS speedloaders with the K6.

It's as if they studied other small revolvers , combined the best elements and then executed the design pretty well.

I'm pretty impressed.

As someone else said, Smith has been complacent.

Kimber it seems, set out to make the best small carry revolver they could. I hope the market rewards them. We could use more of that.

I love the recessed cylinder too...reminiscent of how revolvers use to be made. In about 6 month I will be getting either a K6 or an Sp101 3". Haven't decided yet.

I agree with this absolutely, but I'll add that the Chiappa Rhino is another amazing evolution of the revolver concept, and I have to say I'll be buying one or two more Rhinos before I consider a Kimber. Firing full load 357s from a 2" snubby but feeling 38 SPL or lighter recoil made me a an instant believer.

BTW, the Rhino uses L frame speedloaders and moon clips.
