Hello Folks,
Anyone have one of these? I'm considering getting one for my wife for our 11th anniversary in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for feedback. I really wish it had the free 3G like the other kindles. My wife likes to read, and I think it would be handy for her. Does it also function like other tablets such as the IPad?

Thanks,
Bill

I've been researching it as well. and I have come to the following conclusions:

If it is solely for reading, the other Kindles are superior.
If it is for apps, games, etc, you're better off with an iPad.

I am leaning towards getting the Kindle Keyboard for now, and possibly the next iteration of the Fire, when some of the issues others are complaining about have been addressed. I would suggest reading all the 1 star reviews and see if the problems mentioned are something you find important. Or save up for an iPad.

My wife received a Fire for her birthday. She loves it. Totally intuitive. Screen is really clear, albeit smaller than an ipad, but costs $400 less. Functioning is really fast. She loves it... best $200 I've spent in a long time!

Speaking from the exerience of being married for 28 years, be careful of the annivesary presents. You will be expected to raise the bar each year.
My 28th was last month. I bought myself a 1959 Ruger Single Six and took the wife out for a steak. She doesn't know about the Ruger ;)

My wife has a regular Kindle....and she LOVES it....buying a book is so easy, we just order one online and have it sent to her Kindle..she has a Bible on her Kindle as well...if the Fire works like the Kindle does, then I don't think you can go wrong....However, I am sure you have her buying you a Registered Magnum for your anniversary, after all the 11th anniversary is the "blue steel and wood" anniversary!!!!!
