Kit Gun 1956?

I'm hoping for a 1956 birthyear gun. but, probably not.

Did not realize I had not posted the serial number,,,,

My guess on shipment date would be late '54 through mid-'55, but as always you are at the mercy of whoever pulled stock from the vaults over half a century ago.

I thought the Sun-Ray box might help narrow that down, but SCSW puts their use from 1954-59, which includes not only the year you are interested in but a couple on either side as well.

I'll say it again. That is a fine-looking little .22/32.

I have always wanted one of those. I settled for now for a 34-1 that I really like. Shoots great and looks good, BUT it's not the real thing. What a beautiful gun and I'm sure you are proud to own it. Hopefully, someday, I will be able to upgrade to something close to yours. Thank you for showing it to us.

Yes, she's a beauty. Hardly shot at all, if any. Maybe just cycled. I'm estimating '56 or the next year since it's a 3 screw model introduced c. 1956.

But, if the serial # on the box is correct to the gun, the nearest #s I have in my database are:
7200 shipped in Nov '54,
75XX in 1954,
7531 in Dec '54.

But as you no doubt know as David said above, they didn't ship in numerical order. And the 3 guns above were all earlier 4 screw models.

REVISION NOTE: Based on the recently posted serial #, the closest # in my database to yours is # 29403, shipped Nov. 1957. So unfortunately, not likely to be a birth year gun but you never know for sure until you get a letter.

What a nice specimen! I have decided that I know almost nothing about these kit guns. Here is SN 9757 (a 4 screw) and I thought that it probably shipped in 1954 (I have not dated it with Roy). It currently sits in a starburst box, but I'm not sure that that is correct either...





I also have a 4-screw 4" kit gun SN 22564 that letters as having shipped in Jan 1957 and another un-dated 4-screw SN 29543 that I would have thought shipped in 1957 as well? Like I said - I don't know much about these guns, but what I do know about these kit guns is that they are way cool.

That's just a beautiful Model 1953! And excellent photos as well.

The nearest I have to your 9757 in my database is 9240, shipped in Nov. 1954. And to your 29543 is 29403, shipped in Nov. 1957.

So I think you have them closely pegged.

Some very nice kit guns here. Of course, like a proud parent, I have to show mine. 2" is a 4 digit (4xxx) and 4" is a 3 digit serial (8xx).
