What type of knee pads do some of you senior competitors use for going prone?

I just did a Walmart search for "men's knee pads" and was amazed at the selection available. Obviously I would like a pair that can be used on the outside of my pants when specific action pistol events require me to go prone via my knees. I see foam, GEL etc

Suggestions are appreciated.

I have used "ALTA" brand knee and elbow pads for range work with no complaints.

If you want the top of the heap, the Arcteryx Knee Caps are the lightest, coolest and most likely to stay in place whilst moving. Widely used by military units who have the coin.

You pay for what you get however. My last pair were $60.

Hello
I've done road racing a looooong time ago late 90's to early 2000's and the gear really started to ramp up with new tech and the internet helped as well. Maybe look into road racing gear? I cannot attest to anything new but the technology vs old to now has to be way better. Probably cost you an arm and leg. When it comes to protection for road racers knees and elbows is 2nd to none. Also look into the dirt racing market as it may be more suitable for mobility.

Protection is a premium in all Racing

I have a pair of military issue Digi cam knee pads that I bought cheap at a mil surp. store, and they work well. I use them when shooting PPC courses requiring kneeling barricade, and they were a real knee saver a couple years ago when replacing the floor in my boat.

Not the same subject, but female high-schoolers about 35 years ago had some nice knee pads for playing volleyball indoors.
