Good evening everyone,
Just returned home from an afternoon of knee surgery. Gonna be laid up for a few days and thought I might pass the time reading about a man I've heard quite a bit about on this forum and elsewhere. If any of you could recommend a favorite read by Mr. Keith or another legend, Skeeter Skelton, I would be very much obliged.
I've been reloading for my 3" 624 and my 6" 629-1 for awhile now and think I would enjoy reading how Keith and Skelton approached the process.
Thank you in advance for any recommendations.

Anything by Elmer. Everything by Elmer. Lever guns by Mike Torino. Peter Hathaway Capstick, as mentioned earlier, his books art good too.

I've gotten hooked on the "Dr Ford" books by Randy W White.

Either of Skeeters books.."Me and Joe" "Good Friends,Good Guns,Good Whisky" The Keith book.has been mentioned.

Yeah wouldn't mind gettin a hold of those Shootin lever action books from the late Mike Venturino. Be interesting to see articles on those 1873 vintage Winnys.

Wow, thanks for the recommendations. Hell I was there is a little out of my price range right now but sure looks like a fine read. Gonna get my Christmas wish book list together and see what happens.

"Hell I was there" by Keith

You did not ask for it but "Death in the Long Grass" by Peter Hathaway Capstick is a good read.

I agree with both recommendations. I've actually read all the Capstick books and enjoyed them all.

I have several books by Keith, good info, but dry reading to me. Have not read any of Skelton's books, but did read his articles which I thought were good. Capstick is great, start with Death In The Long Grass and read through his works from there. I believe I have all of his books. Just my $0.02!

I agree with all the other recomendations, and will add anything by Robert Ruark. Maybe not much for technical stuff, but for pure adventure, he'd hard to top.

I might have to dust one off myself now.

Elmers Biography is a great read. Another great book on African big game hunting is Pondoro. John "Pondoro" Taylor was the last of the ivory poachers. He led an interesting life to say the least.
I'm sure Elmer would approve of this one.

Capstick wrote the book "A Man Called Lion", the biography. Good read. Add the late Mike Venturino to the list.
