Hello, my name is Holecarder and I am a knife addict.

It all started with a $40 Kershaw Skyline as my EDC knife. It quickly led to many purchases of expensive blades including Benchmades, Zero Tolerances, Spidercos and others.

When my wife asks, "how much do all these knives cost?"

I perform a quick calculation before answering. It goes like this:

Actual $$ spent divided by 10. Then round down.

For now, she's okay with the fact I "only" spent around $120 total.

I like your math! Unfortunately, I often come across it when trying to sell a gun...

There's a knife vendor at shows here who has a literal ton of expensive knives, mostly folders. He seems to starve as there is rarely anyone at his tables. Another vendor has many less expensive folders $30 and under; he always has shoppers examining and buying his mdse.

I had the Jones last spring/summer. I'd been more than happy with my old SAK and Spyderco Delica. Then it hit. Every time I'd see an on-line deal, I'd throw down. Mostly Kershaw, but also SOG, Benchmade, Spyderco. My biggest problem is I can't carry them all at the same time.

I do not do modern knives. I have collected antique folders and US military knives for decades. The cream of my crop is a Cole 9 knuckle fighting knife from WW 2. My wife logs onto disk all my new old knives when I find one. Coming home from the pawn shop last year with a Case Q337 quartermasters knife and a blade marked and dated Imperial Mark III, both from WW 2, she dutifully cataloged them. Then an exasperated " what the heck" was uttered. Inquiring what the problem was she said the I had just hit knife #500 and #501. She seemed to think it was time to slow down. To placate her I sold @100 in the last year. When she saw the money going back into our account, and seeing that I was selling them for more than I paid for them, she seemed to calm down. The very early Ruana that I bought at a yard sale for $40 was sold for $2,350. At this point she instructed me to go knife hunting again.

When I decided that I had; "All the guns I needed".......... I found I "needed" more knives............

Oh by the way ....... having what you need, doesn't make " the want" go away!!!!

Now I'm just buying..... to give to "The Boys" ........................someday!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Just got bit by the knife bug recently myself. Haven't had a collection since being a kid. Scored the Buck Alpha folding hunter last year and this year Santa is bringing me the Gerber Prodigy Tanto fixed blade which sounds good and only $50 online. Some really good choices out there and often won't break the bank. Heard Mora's are good quality and reasonable in price

Cheez,"all" you guys are "PIKERS!!When you talk about having a lot of knives...ck.out "BLUES"our mod.! Be advised...Blues being a man of taste & class.....only deals with the best.I only wish I had a third of his blades! As long as I have known him,I have never seen him with a junk knife...Hate to admit it but I saw him at Blade with a folder that I lusted after......funny thing...if.....he would have known...he would probably have given it to me!

I have half a dozen Moras of my own, and just ordered a dozen assorted knives for Christmas presents. Some are stainless, some carbon steel, some classic wood handles, some modern. I have found them to be great knives, in the kitchen, in camp, and around the yard.

Oh, yeah, I might be addicted, too.

I started collecting a young age had to sell over 300 vintage Case knives when I bought my first house. Then I got into guns and but I still can't turn down a good deal on a Benchmade. So me times I will buy one at a show for a great deal and then sell it on the knife forums for a nice profit, it a nice way to make cash for more things I want.

I've been collecting Case knives for years, last count I have 532
Most are limited editions or less than 100 made and, complete sets that where very few produced. My Son-In-Law is a case dealer so I always acquire that type, dealer limited items too. What madness....knives and S&W's .....Love it.

I have to confess to being a knife addict as well. I have a bowie knife collection, and some assist open 4" blade knives. I carry an SOG 4" blade fast open knife. When I was in uniform I always carried a Gerber boot knife, I still have it in mint condition. There is just something about the feel of a good knife in your hand.
