Our family lost two WWII veterans, my uncles, over the past 16 months. It spurred me to acquire three WWII items.

An S&W Forum member will recognize this Camillus USN fighting knife:

I'm sorry for your family's loss. That is a nice way to honor them.

I noticed the three items are New York manufactured, and thought of a NY link that might interest you.

The Brooklyn Army Terminal was part of the New York Port of Embarkation, and was the largest military supply base in the United States through World War II. Over 3 million soldiers and 37 million tons of military supplies had passed through the terminal.

The complex stood unused for years, and I used to explore it when I visited my SIL's NYPD precinct on the shared pier during family open house. The complex is being renovated into a business incubator, but the aura of it's original purpose will always permeate the old base.

It may be open to the public now, and worth exploring for someone with a family connection to the place.

An M1 Carbine would be on my short list except that in New Jersey it is listed by name as an assault firearm. The clip fed WWII M1 Garand and the more modern magazine fed M1A are not prohibited.
That makes perfect sense, doesn't it?!

Good post, my father in law was a USAAF Staff Sergeant Bombsight Mechanic. My dad was a PFC in the US Army 1st Cav in the Pacific.

I have his M1 Carbine (that he bought after his service), he said that he much preferred it over the Garand.
