Read this topic from another forum. The July Knife World editorial also addresses this issue.

PLEASE write to Customs and tell them AND your Congresspersons that you want no new regulations on knives that are not true switchblades. Even ordinary pocketknives may be affected if Customs enforces this proposed new rule.

It amounts to legislation via bureaucracy.

Yeah this showed up on this forum too a few days ago. Most of us carry one of these illegal knives for use as a tool. Personally I think my 7 in. overall assisted open Kershaw is more of a tool than a weapon.
