knobs on right or left?

Ok, this might be a newbie question so bear with me if you would. I'm going to order a micro dot from primary arms and they have them with the on/off and brightness knobs on both the right or the left. I'm a righty. I would think that it would be more convenient to have the knobs on the left so that I could adjust while still keeping a grip on the rifle. Am I wrong in thinking this?

I agree with Cypher. No need to over think it. It's just the on/off/brightness. Turn it on and leave it for the day. I would suggest taking a look at the MD-06 and select the riser you want, absolute or lower 1/3. There is a video on the page that explains.

That's actually the one I'm looking at. They've got it bundled with a QD mount for $100 right now. A lot of the reviews say it's good for 1/3 co-witness which is what I am looking for. Thanks for the input. Just need to decide knobs on the left or knobs on the right.

One thing to consider is if you have the rifle on your back. I try and keep anything that sticks out on the right side so the left side of the rifle is more comfortable on my back. However the knob on that sight looks like it wouldn't matter much.

Shooting lefty, the right side adjustment works for me. I don't have to remove my trigger hand to make any adjustment, I just can pull back my support/off hand. But, as others have stated, with a quality red dot you really just turn it on and leave it on for the day, or just leave it on all the time if using an Aimpoint.

Right hand shooter, left hand knobs. However, as others have said and depending on your sights battery performance, it becomes irrelevant. Turn it on, find the brightness setting you like, and shoot, then shut it down at the end of the day. Doing that allows you to focus on your shooting rather than worrying about knobs.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

Thank you gunny. Sarcasm noted, yet I do appreciate the input!

Not so much sarcasm as personal experience. I used to love pistols with adjustable sights. One day a friend made an observation that really hit home, "I hate adjustable sights, because if they're adjustable, folks feel the need to adjust them". He told me he went through the same thing, and once he went to fixed sights, his focus was more on his shooting technique and less on trying to adjust the gun to make his shooting better. My pistols now have fixed sights and I've had any number of people question my claimed shooting skills, until we go to the range. I may not shoot cloverleafs at 10 yards, but I can bounce soda cans at 80 yards. At 61, that's good enough to make me dangerous in a fight. ;)

I guess I was just advocating the "set it and forget" suggestions, but I still hope the analogy makes sense.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

Oh I'm just kidding. And I am with you 100% on sights. I have a bit of OCD, so any extra knobs or adjustments just tends to screw with my brain a little bit. The simpler the better for me. Thanks a lot.

I figured, but some take comments personally. Better to explain than to leave someone butt hurt. ;) So have you got the Micro dot coming yet? I considered the micro, but the 30mm fit me better. Either way, Primary Arms has a good product and CS, so you won't be disappointed.

Good Luck and good shooting.

Yeah got the micro dot today. Feels solid. Nice dot. I'm happy with it so far. Taking it out Saturday.
