Lots of gunk on this one to clean up. They sure did a good job of cloning the Fender back in the '70s. I have a extra Tele neck for a project down the line and it fits the neck pocket on this Drifter nice and snug. Did get a surprise when I pulled the bridge cover off. Not your typical Strat bridge. That will be replaced by a top loading hardtail with 6 saddles since it will be covered. KAISH makes a almost identical set of tuners that use the same size bushings, so I will not need to ream the holes. May even be able to use the same screw holes, we shall see. The fretboard dots are glued on lables that were finished over. You can feel the edge on them so no pulling frets and sanding the board. Been thinking of buying a takeoff loaded Fender Player pickguard and using the electronics from it while keeping the pickups original. I have a Yamaha EG 303 T project that could use the Player pickups. The Korean pups are surprisingly hot for the time, measuring 7.95ohm at the neck, 7.96ohm in the middle, and 8.05 at the bridge. The original pickguard has a small corner chipped off but I still have it and will superglue it back together. I think I can keep most of the vintage look and sound while upgrading some important bits.
