I wasn't sure which forum to post this under, but finally decided it was part of an upgrade to a firearm, even though technically not gunsmithing work. I added a set of Talon Grips to my EDC piece, a S&W Shield 9mm a couple of months after I got it. I went with the rubber over the sandpaper type texture after reading here about the other being too aggressive and hanging on shirts and such.
I followed the installation instructions to the letter, because I was concerned about them turning loose. Well about a week ago I noticed the grip tape was coming loose, on the back of the grip where it seamed together. And of course it got worse everyday.
Last Friday I used their "Contact" link of their web site and asked them if they could recommend and adhesive to use, not wanting to just grab some "Super Glue" and make a permanent mistake.
Today and fellow named Trent got back in touch with me saying they could not recommend any adhesive, however he would replace my grip tape! I know it has been on there since the first of the year at least, and was just fine up until last week. No cleaning fluid or oils of any sort were ever near the grips. I simply wipe it down with a hanky or something and check the barrel for lint once a week or so. We haven't even begun to get into the "sweaty days" of the Ohio Valley.
He also mentioned that Talon Grips had a new design out now that does not seam in the back. I'm guessing that it must seam in the front now, but can't say for sure. Kudos to Talon Grips for standing behind their products! I had been contemplating a set for my PMR 30, now it's a sure thing.
