I tried searching for an answer to this question but I couldnt find an answer. I was wondering if it was possible to put a cylinder from an L frame on a k frame. I dont care about exra capacity I just prefer the look of an unfluted cylinder and have been unable to find one for a M19. S&W makes one for the M686 but the 686 is a L frame. Hence the dilema. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Will not work. The L-frame cylinder is larger than a K-frame cylinder. You might be able to fit one in the frame window but it won't line up (with the bore and/or center pin) properly.

I was afraid that would be the case. Next question: Is there an unfluted cylinder made for the m19?

I dont want to "hot rod" anything I like the look of unfluted cylinders to fluted ones. Just a personal prefrence. I was hoping someone somewhere has made one.

Thanks for all the help. I had a feeling it would be a custom only part. I guess there isnt a huge demand for it.

FAMCO could probably make you a non-fluted K cylinder, but it looks like they're (temporarily) not taking retail orders. You might want to contact them anyway.

Re: L frame cylinder....

I like the looks of the unfluted cyllinders also. If the other sources dont work for you form some reason you might try SSK Industries in Wintersville, Ohio. J.D Jones started the business I believe and he of course is famous for lots of wildcat cartridges for Contender pistols.

I have been to the other world of custom guns and I can only say
it can be an expensive trip. You may have to get it out of your system. Be sure and use a reputable outfit to do the work that will stand behind there product. Basement wannabees will take your money and do nothing for you if it doesnt turn out. Just remember small claims court can help you out.

I may be incorrect but 15 years ago RSR wholesale had a run of Model 66s with 3 inch barrels and maybe unfluted cylinders. You might try Gun Parts Corp and see if they can help you on this. It would give you a two-tone revolver. Double check with them as I may be incorrect so dont get your hopes up too much. Good Luck.
