L frame goodness

As I was comparing my 2 older L frames to my newest acquisition (686-6 PC), I decided to take a family portrait. I posted recently in my other thread how much lighter the 686-6 is compared to my other 2 L frames, 581 & 686-4.

Am looking forward to running the new 686-6PC in my ICORE games next spring, but will work it out some when I have the chance this winter.

My small L frame family:

686-6 with a 507 Comp on an EGW mount. This particular example is super accurate.

586 no dash PPC gun with an unknown builder. Haven't bench rested it yet. Single action is really, really nice. Double action isn't any better than my 686-6 where I changed the mainspring to a Wolff standard power. Both now have 15 lb rebound springs. The 586 had a lighter rebound spring in it that led to reset that was a bit mushy for my liking.

I just picked up a 581 no dash myself and waiting on some culina combat grips. It shoots great and is easy on the eyes! Nice collection.

My only two L-frames are an early 586 and a 686-6+; I like them both, but the 586 has a remarkable trigger and is the envy of my grandkids...I suspect there will be a scuffle over that one when I depart this mortal coil!

Stunning shorties! Here's my 686-4 2ith new grips. Funny, I thought that I bought the grips for my 627-2 so I sent Jennifer an email because they didn't fit right, and she said that they are for L frames.
Getting old is no fun.

These are not my Culina grips! I received a set the other day, mistakingly thinking they were the Culinas. They haven't been shipped yet and they look much much better than these.

I just noticed after looking at my pics that the 4" looks like it has a pin showing beneath the cylinder release. I don't think any of my other revolvers have this pin exposed.
You guys think the pin is a replacement? It looks like this gun has seen a few rounds as well, after looking closely.
No matter, I still like it and will shoot and enjoy it.

L-frames are definitely heavy. My 6" 586 .357 is the heaviest of my handguns which includes a 5 1/2" Redhawk .44 Mag.

I always enjoy a good "L" frame thread! I had been in the LE mode for a couple of years before the "L" frames arrived. I carried 4" & 6" Pythons for duty & PPC. After trying the "L" frames, the Colts went away. But by the time the mid to late 80's rolled around, many of my S&W's went away too. Life happens, as they say.
Since becoming self-unemployed (first semi then fully retired), I've been rebuilding what I had. PLUS a few for good measure.
How do you pick a favorite anything? Each is special.
A couple of my "special" ones.

My 646's. Limited production and in the LE-inspired .40 S&W. IF I had to return to work, I would not feel under-gunned with either of them.

Not up on the 'new' ones. I did buy a newly manufactured 581 (blued finish, fixed sights, four inch barrel 1981 or so - when they were released. Carried it in the Border Patrol until I quit. Replaced the original 'Magna' stocks with smooth Herrett's stocks. Still have it.
It is a holster item. Too large for pocket and one has to dress for concealed use.
Winchester Silver Tip ammunition shoots close to sights and seems to work well.

I know nothing of the redone series.
