There were not many composers in the 20th century who wrote classical music that actually reached the ears of the general public.
Lalo Shifrin was one of them. A great composer who had a knack for working on high quality film scores, as well as genuine “concert” music.
He had a diverse musical career as a performer, conductor, and composer.

If you’ve never listened to the entire “Dirty Harry” suite, it will give you a new appreciation of the film we mostly all here know.

Since you mention the theme from Mannix, here’s a wonderful and surprising transcription for solo piano by French pianist Jean Michel Bernard.
It says a lot for the quality of the composition that it can be transformed and adapted so well.

He wrote the “Mission Impossible” theme song, one of the best theme songs ever IMHO. R.I.P.

The memory box isn't what it used to be: who did the theme for Peter Gunn? Mancini?
