My new laptop is a Dell consumer level, and has lcd/led, 17" 1400x900 screen. I use this laptop for recreational purposes and rarely have the need for multiple windows open. Having a giant screen with the small font/menus associated with the 1400x900 resolution makes no sense to me. I've tried the various adjustments to increase font size but nothing really scales up everything proportionally and equally. My understanding is these lcd's need to be run in their native resolutions for best clarity.
For this and other reasons I am considering returning it and getting a Dell business class 15" model that offers the same lcd/led screen in three resolutions, 1)can't remember the number but it was really high. 2)1400x900. 3) 1280x800
I'm considering going with the 1280x800 as maybe it would be a little more eye friendly with regards to font/menu size. I currently run 800x600 (CRT) on my desktop and there are some websites I visit that don't fit on the screen and require scrolling right. My concern with choosing the 1280x800 is the same thing will happen in the future where websites won't fit on the screen and require scrolling right to view all.
Is this a valid concern???
Thanks
