Shown next to a 4" paring knife for comparison.

No scabbard when I found it, which would be quite helpful, what with that huge rounded front end.

Any enlightenment would be helpful. I don't reckon it's particularly collectible, being modern and of finest Chinese manufacture, but is there a specific reason for this odd blade?

It's an all purpose clever for skinning & butchering. This knife came out about 2005 as part of a three knife set called the " The Campfire Set". The steel is 420C. The Nylon sheath held all three knives. The other two knives were a 9 inch gut hook knife and an 8.5 in. caper knife. Retail price of the set at the discount dealer level (Smoky Mountain Knife Works in 2007) was $17.95. The knives were also available individually. Ed.

Sorry to take so long to read the replies! Haven't visited this forum in a while.

So...A whole US$17.95 for the whole set? I'd probably have given much that just to have a sheath to protect the family from the knife!

It's sharp and seems to hold the edge well. But it might have to be shortened a bit. That round front cutting edge keeps ending up in the wrong places.
