I've noticed that some of the laser-engraved lettering on the S&W import mark on my Walther P99 is darker than the rest. Most of the lettering is a white-gold color like the "capable of firing with mag removed" warning laser-engraved on my M&P. Some of the letters however are darker to the point where they almost blend in with the tenifer finish on the P99's slide. Could this be rust, and how can I identify it for sure? Also, is there anything that can be done to clean this up? I'll try to get some pics to put up to show what it looks like.
