Laser target system

With the ability to replace any ammo used requiring a second mortgage and more luck than a lottery winner, i used a little holiday fun money and picked up an iTarget Pro system. Which is basically a caliber-specific laser cartridge, a target holding sled and the use of a phone app. About $100.

I have used it a couple times so far, and overall it works quite well. And can be fun. It does take a little to get used to what the app does not like for lighting (setting it under direct light can set off hits); but then its good to go. Just set the distance, load the cartridge and have at it. Basically dryfire practice with visible results. And as ammo is high and range time not always an option it will pay for itself in a short amount of time. I may pick up a 223 cartridge as well to allow for practice with that platform too. Adding the app works on my iphone 8+ and my SIL bought one and works well on his iphone 11.

I know there are other options out there, some pretty involved so this isnt any comparison or even a recommendation of this over another. Just some early experience on it in case any others are considering one as well.

My first question is: Does it shoot to POA like your gun does with live ammo? I'm definitely interested.

I have played with one on the past and the model I was using had adjustable sights. Not a bad in-home "toy", but without recoil it's just not the same. Still, a viable option with today's ammo crises.

I have always put the front dot where i want to hit and it works for me. So far, same with this. There is a step in the app where you adjust and center the view, but standing in my lower level 15’ away it seems to be good.

As noted there are multiple brands and systems out there and a good amount of vids for people reviewing them if that helps any.

Only my .02 but i never spent much time on dryfiring; i would just hit the local range and run some rounds. Nothing like live rounds. Well the local range is no more, others have covid limitations and are not close, and ammo is unattainable to replace. So for now this allows me to keep practicing on holster work and shooting from different positions (not allowed at ranges anyway).
Worth the price i paid for that anyway.

I’ve had one for about a year now. It’s great fun when I’m traveling for business. I’m just not a video game type person and you can only watch so many movies. It works best with TDA semi-autos shooting double action. I have the laser cartridges for revolvers too, but it’s just not the same having to reset the cylinder for each shot. True, there’s no recoil, but for practicing quick draw and placing the first shot, it’s really almost the same as live fire. It trains your hand-eye coordination and I’ve definitely gotten much better on the quick draw hip shot.
