The summer always seems to go by way too fast. After last winter, with the extreme cold and snow, I'm really dreading this one.

Even though winter is on the way fall has always been my favorite time of the year. Larry
I know the dates of the seasonal changes but I tend to use meteorological times for telling the real truth.
That is the seasons change at the beginning of the month instead of sort of in the middle. Working outside all my life showed me that is normally more accurate.
I have had heat on for the last week- 10 days, mostly it runs at night but a couple times it cycled in the middle of the day. First year I ever had to do this as I normally do not need or have to use heat until early October. FWIW I live in the people’s republic of way upstate NY . (We already had a frost at my house and leaves are changing real fast!)

September 1st, 22nd & 23rd; guess one can pick what they want as the start of fall.

All I can say about Summer is--Good riddence! We still have at least 2-3 weeks of summer left. //>:-=((
Not a summer type person, too hot for me. At least here in Okla.
Can't wait for cooler temps, not to mention no more mowing grass and less bugs, etc.

I love fall. October is my favorite month. But I don't mind or dread winter now that I'm retired and can stay in except for walking Moose the Micro-Mastiff.
I really enjoy all the changes of season, and wouldn't want to live anywhere with fewer than four. Though I'd love to see the beautiful part of Maine that has only two, 17 July and winter.

That would be the meteorological start of fall as I alluded to in a previous post. Based on that winter will start on December 1 but a funny thing many years thanksgiving is either real cold and or very snowy.

We too spent the last Sunday of the summer at the local flea market. For a change we had a great weather day; it was warm with a light breeze. Lots of folks and most of the venders were in a mood to off load most items. As one said the marked prices are only numbers.
The Lovely and Charming picked up three etched glass salad plates, she had been looking for.
At another stall, I found a nice piece of Asian dark green jade with silver dragons attached to two sides. Seller had it overpriced at $10.00. I carefully set it back down and walked off. Returned and hour later, it was still there, so it was meant to be. Explained to seller “I hated to negotiate, too much like work.” Had the jade in my left hand and $7.00 in my right asked him which one he wanted? He took the cash and I got the Lovely and Charming a nice piece of jade, for a good price.

Great stuff Fred! I wanted to hit one of the local Flea Markets here this weekend but instead did yard work, OGCA and brakes on the Boss's car. Looking for an old Wilton vise to put in "Bob's big blankin' building". (the dash one...)

A Texas summer is a hellish proposition as well.
Ain't nothing nicer than sweating my *** off at work and then coming home to 1.5 hours of more profuse sweating making my yard acceptable to me, Charley the lab, and the HOA.
I love the fall as well.

Yes Fall is usually beautiful and very pleasant. One historic fact that is disturbing, After Fall comes winter. All the wonders of winter. Cold, ice, ice laced rain, snow, and did I say ICE....Well at least there is Thanksgiving, and then Christmas..Makes the Grand kids and great Grand Kids happy.....For some reason they don't seem to feel the cold and ice. In fact they start wondering "Will School be closed" God Bless them.....Back in the 50's I remember the snow lots of snow...My dad had been transferred to NE Ohio we got snow by the foot not inches...Lake Erie in the winter is well the word is banned....Of course kids just lived and enjoyed it...We weren't to smart come to think about it..Missouri isn't to bad now and then we get a dozy...They say this is the year.....They should be shot!!!
South Fla. knows naught about winter. Until the last couple of years we could count on three or four months of the year guaranteed the thermometer would not reach 90F. Late Sept. would bring a break in the humidity until April for a week or two at a time, every couple of years would bring mid 30's with a high of 45F. Hasn't happened for some time and I am waiting to see if this will be the year I see 90 in February, the only month it has yet to occur.
I'm not complaining, been in places where mid 40's was T-shirt weather, but I'm wondering if smoking the Thanksgiving Day bird with shorts and bare feet has become the norm?
One favor though, please don't send any of that nasty white stuff down thisaway unless there is some bacon packed inside.

Bob, it may be sometime before I get up your way, but the next time you are visiting family, just come south by 60 or so miles and we can hit the local flea market. OK?
