Hello,
Recently acquired 627-0, of interest because it's the only 627-0 I've seen with slab side factory combat grips. Serial #BEK47XX, anybody have a 627-0 with the slab side combats?
Surprisingly comfortable for me, someone with larger hands probably wouldn't like them.

Congrats on a cool piece. I've never seen a 627-0 with the later, "slab side" combats. My example and the others I've seen have the regular combats.

Nice gun!

My 627-0 is later than yours (BEK58XX) and it came with standard Combat grips.

A previous owner probably changed them. See if there's a date stamp on the inside of your grips. If there is one, compare it to the Julian date code (Spec Ord #) on the end label or the date on the fired case envelope. If the grips are later than the gun, they're obviously not original.

Grips off. They fit perfectly, I don't see any indication they are replacements

NICE revolver and I like that Randall in the upper right corner! Model 14?

It was either an Attack or an Airman; I can't remember. I still have a few Randall's, but that knife is long gone.

Those are a nice set of the next-to-last model of the factory Combat grips offered by Smith - the last having the medallions removed, no doubt, as a cost-saving measure.

I have found those Flat-Sided Combats on guns in the 1997-1998 time frame. My 629 DX is one such example. Some of the 610s were outfitted similarly.

The five 627-0 that have spent time in my safe over the years have all had the fuller-profile variants. The 627-0 in particular seem to have what are sometimes called the 'big butt' Combats, as the heel area is notably thicker than some of the packaged Combats sold by S&W

Here are some from the 629DX

Next to the No-Logo, otherwise identical.

These were the last gasp, using laminate instead of solid wood. Some of the color choices were pretty out there.

Boxed example, big butt combats.

Shooter, also came with full-profile, big butt Combats; late example, serial BEK64xx
