I saw an interesting 41 today. (Interesting, in that I know very little about them. I’ve just admired them as pretty guns.). This one looks to be a 77-78 model with a 7 3/8” barrel. Seems that might be a bit ungainly as a carry gun, except maybe in a chest rig. My question is in regards to the muzzle brake. It looks to be refinished or something. Is this variance with the barrel normal? Asking a bit over $1K with box, original and after market grips. Thoughts? Should this be my entry to the 41?

I have a 1970s era model 41, it came with the muzzle brake which was supposed to help with rapid fire scores. I replaced the muzzle brake with a barrel cap and have not looked back. You did not say how many mags where included but if it is in decent condition 1k is not a bad price.

Let's see the rest of it. If the finish is in VGC or better that isn't a bad price, although it doesn't hurt to try bargaining. I gave $1200 for a 1985 7" that was new in the box a few years ago. Seems like the older ones are better shooters and less troublesome than the newer ones.

Your 7 3/8” model 41 was shipped with a tool kit, internal weight, two magazines, instruction manual that included a parts list, and a false muzzle cap. The muzzle break, being aluminum, is very hard to remove leading without doing damage to the break. Most of us model 41 owners use the false muzzle cap for shooting and the break for looks.

I think “a bit over $1K” is reasonable if the condition is excellent and all accessories are included in the original box. Pictures would help.

Muzzle brake, cap, and weights as shipped.

If this was the case I would say jump on it.
