I note that the OPs holster and Lee Ericsson’s holster both have cut away for trigger but mine does not. Can anyone comment as to if mine is really for 1911 ? Thank you.
Likely it was for a revolver. The 1911 inserts into a 5" N frame holster with the trigger guard covered, looking natural only in modern times. Back then it was expected the trigger of any pistols w/b accessible. Nevertheless some examples exist.
Here's a pair of images, done with turnerriver's cooperation because he has real guns and I can't have them: same holster, both pistols, and the safety strap fits ideally for both. But the trigger normally would be exposed on the auto in the era of this Heiser holsters:
