The Air Force has charged an airman with making false statements, obstructing justice and involuntary manslaughter in the July 20 shooting death of a security forces airman at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, the service announced Friday.

Recall a news story I heard in 2003 or so when the first wounded were coming back from Iraq, landing at Andrews AFB. One soldier told a story of bravery and valor defending his quad from an ambush.
The next day they reported "We have a correction to one of yesterday's stories. That soldier was not wounded in an ambush. He was wounded in an accidental discharge of his own weapon."

I had my suspicions when the story first broke...

Too many years on the job, I guess, but when two people are in a room and one gets shot and dies I question everything.

We had a SP claim his SW model 15 (our duty sidearm back in the day) when off when he dropped it. Hit a Korean soldier, lucky it was not serious. Truth came out he was playing quick draw.
