Latest Muzzle Brake I am testing!!

Here are a couple of pics of the latest Muzzle Brake I am testing she is a beaut. It also from first tests appears to work extremely well. It is made more for offhand shooting instead of Benchrest style (like I mostly do) so I am testing it that way. More results to come;

I have one but I have never done gun stuff on it...but I am thinking about it because of the way the different makers are taking care of me.

Newb question alert!!!

Why would it matter how you shoot with particular muzzle brakes? That part of the gun is never touching a rest so I don't get it. Thanks

I have another brake with the bottom closed off to keep the blast directed up and to the side to help hold me on target. The maker wants to know how this brake does when held offhand to see if it will help mitigate muzzle flip is the reason.

I prefer a plain barrel, no brake at all. The muzzle brakes cause more noise to the shooter and the people next to him. I don't find the 223 has enough recoil to warrant a brake. But that's just me.

To be honest I am still testing the brakes and the A2 flash hider, side by side comparison for sound and accuracy. I have been reading about an ongoing controversy about the function of having one. Although the AR in 5.56 hasnt a lot of recoil I would rather do comparisons on it than one of my big bore hunting rifles. Besides ammo cost, there is also physical wear and tear on me. I really did like the way this new one shot and the amount of sound. But that is why they make threadless barrels or thread protectors in case you dont want one.

Yep the same guy...he has some other designs he is coming up with and can make it out of several different materials, All you have to do is email and talk with him about what you are after and voila' its there.

This on threaded on but because of the rules in NY having to be firmly affixed yours has to be pinned or welded on so that it is not removable if I am correct. He may or may not be able to make one for you but if you want I will give you the contact information.

Yes, that's correct...has to be permanently affixed. The trouble I've had if find what is clearly a break and not a flash hider. Not something I can be wrong about here.

if you look at the pics of this it is a brake not just a flash hider. The enclosed end makes the difference

If you look flash hiders all have open ends and brakes dont. But I am not a lawyer nor do I deal with your states laws.

So I noticed today that mine kicks to the right when I fire it with the stock A2. Is that what everyone else sees too or is my stance just jacked up? I'd much rather have a vertical kick or something straight back.

Also noticed that when I stand behind my 10 year old and he's shooting it, it's twice as loud as it is when I'm firing it.

That is one of the reasons that I started looking at a different muzzle device but mine went high.

I discovered that when I didn't have anything on the barrel at all it shot straighter and more consistent, but this has just been a recent discovery when I started comparing my A2 to the other devices, but I also discovered that I could sight in the other devices and they stayed consistent as to point of aim.
