LEO marked gun

First post, but second S&W, forgive me if I get this wrong.

Bought a 15-3, short barrel(measures 1.75 from frame to tip). Combat style rear sight(adjustable). 6K27881, 15-3, crane is marked:7856-3, but most important, I think, is the LEO marking.

"propery of sacramento sheriff"

I will try to attach photos soon, any info now would be welcomed.

I have learned so much from this site, I want to thank everyone for the information sharing.
I have noticed this S&W thing is addictive.

Thanks

This is the only show in town.

I have been checking on LE guns for a week or two and information is sparse to say the least.

The information on guns with state seal or logo seems to be lacking the most. I would have thought more information would be available. Such as to if a presentation case was included etc.

As for now I am just looking for a plain ole M 10 RB 2 inch at a fair price. Too bad fair is uncommon also.

I have a "Orbea" (copy of a S&W) .38 Largo (I think .38 Colt long)
Marked "Policeia de La provencia de Buenos Aires" .

I have a Colt Cobra, 2" marked "Detroit Police" on the back strap. As far as I can tell, it was manufactured in 1968.

It came with about 30% wear from being carried, but has been fired very little. I do use it for CC sometimes, as it's light and loads six.

I have a Colt Commando with WPD electropenciled on the left side of the frame. It is probably Worecester (MA) Police Dept, as they got some Commandos, but instead it could have been owned by Waldemar P. Dingbat. We'll never know.

Here are a couple more

A 1922 Colt Police Positive and 1955 Webley Mark IV both formerly of the Toronto Police Force.

Have you had the Colt lettered?

The Webley is Toronto for sure. The Colt could be from Toronto too as they did issue the Police Positive . The Troy (NY) PD also marked their Colts like that for several years......

You have two nice ones there!!

I have a S&W 5943 Marked on the frame under the barrel " Cleveland OH PD" it's what brought me to this forum in the first place. I paid like $350.00 for it. I have since seen a REAL nasty one at a gun show for $650.00 ( that seems a bit high to me for sure).

Yes, I have had the Colt lettered as featured below. I think there was a slight mistake in the address: rather than Aiken Hardware, it should have been Aikenhead's Hardware.

Nice!!

I actually had a Police Positive to lettered to Aikenhead Hardware. It was marked for a farm tractor manufacturer that did service as a defense contractor during WWII.

Wisconsin State Patrol M 66 question.

Researching this gun has been a dead end in many ways.
I believe only 400 WI State patrols were built. This is from some officers I spoke to.
They are 4 inch M 66s and were issue guns.
I believe most were used as duty weapons.
I have found no photos on line of the guns or boxes, but think they were just shipped in the standard old blue Bangor box with re-enforced corners. Again no pics anywhere.
Seems the box is like a hens tooth too. Most got tossed I guess.
Any information or pics would be dandy if you guys can help out?
The one I found has an asking price of $950 so I am not too anxious on this one but it is interesting anyhow.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
