Stopped by a gunshop today & checked out the new LCP Max but, aside from the front sight, was not impressed. First the color was a light chocolate brown (ug!) but the trigger was just awful. I’ve had a second generation LCP for years, over 400 rounds of FMJ & HP absent a single failure, w/the standard 7 lb. trigger. I don’t believe the extra couple of rounds is worth $400 +. FWIW my EDC is normally a 340PD.

I'm still rolling with my LCP 10th Anniversary Edition, never looked twice an an LCP II or LCP MAX.
It's my BUG anyway, not a primary. Even if it was, I carried a single stack Walther PPK/S for years beforehand, never needed to fire one, much less 7+ rounds, so I'm not convinced I need a higher capacity handgun.

Sure, when it gets cold I'll carry a double-stack SW40VE, but when it's warm, the most I carry is my M&P40 Shield. I think that plus my LCP and spare mags is plenty. If not, then lets face it, I'm in a scenario in which the odds are stacked against me anyway. I know my limitations and I'm no John Wick, so if I can't adequately defend myself with two guns, two spare magazines, and a knife, then I can't adequately defend myself with more either.

My BUG is a S&W Bodyguard, which has functioned well through 1500 rounds, and like you I see no reason to spend hundreds of dollars to have another round or two which will most likely be unneeded anyway.

In every litter there’s a cull. I recommend you try another one. I really like my Max. The trigger in mine is fairly good and have none of the other issues you described. It’s a nice little package when I want to carry more than my original LCP, which I still use occasionally, but don’t want something heavy.
I actually prefer the Max to my 365 on days when I don’t carry a revolver.

I upgraded to the LCP Max from the LCP II which was my upgrade from the original LCP. I carried the original for years; it was a great little pocket gun but had terrible trigger and sights with no last round hold-open. I upgraded to the II which made those issues a by-gone. But after the Max came out with more capacity, night sight, little thicker grip, better trigger and the rear cocking ears... I was sold! IMO, it's a huge improvement over all previous models but I can see why some stay with what they got; especially if you have extra mags for the original and II.

I'm very happy with the Max and really enjoy shooting more than either of my previous ones.

Over time I’ve accumulated six extra mags, plus the Hogue grip sleeve, for my LCP that makes me hesitant to switch.

Bought one specifically for pocket carry.
Perfect functionality, not that crazy about the Trigger!

My LCP’s trigger measures 7.5 lbs but is very smooth & accurate out to 7 yards. The MAX I dry fired (with permission) had a very gritty pull that may or may not have worked out w/shooting. I’m used to a J Frame’s 10 + lb. trigger so heavy is not really an issue for me.

I tend to agree with you. You get a bigger, heavier gun that the whole point of in the first place is supposed to be smaller and lighter. I would rather have more power than the extra rounds, but that also means bigger and heavier. So you have to decide where to draw the line. :)

Sold mine

I had one it was way off sight wise. No matter who shot it the rounds were left - moved the rear sight over as far as possible and no go. Bunch of different shooters including my brother who qualified for a shooting team in the service - he’s a crack shot. I have him sight in all my guns for me then I know it’s me not the sights. :-)

So off it went. I got a a new LCP II in .22 that is a hoot to use at the range with federal punch and CCI stingers.

I pocket carry a 60 no dash now with an action job and it groups into a palm sized group at 10 yards with my carry load so I’m good for now.

I wanted to like the Max but those sights where way too far off.
