Bodyguard 2.0 issues and some potential solutions -

So this past Saturday went and placed rounds 176 thru 300 down range. 100 rds of Fiocchi Range Dynamics 95g, and 24 rds of Hornady American Gunner.

All shot flawlessly.

Bench shot first 24 rds and consistency shot 3" left and 1-2" low.

So, versus changing out sights or pushing the front to the left or rear to the right, I stated aiming for the 2 O'clock position and every round after that was landing in the bullseye, at 7.5 yards and a grouping about size of an orange (minus the occasional flyer of course...).

At 10yds., POI of my BG2 was also ~3" left even though POA was bullseye... though I didn't experience anything low as all were satisfactorally bullseye high.
I was able to keep both the front and rear sights as centered on the slide as possible and achieve a bullseye POA/POI by, painstakingly... mind you, using my sight pusher to slightly nudge the front ⬅️, and the rear ➡️.
Took some time, and a revisit or two, but it worked and my BG2 slide isn't top heavy to the left.

My wife bought the BG 2.0 on my recommendation, however having not done any handling of the gun. I based my choice on S&W reputation, but the slide on this gun is impossible to rack.
Extremely disappointed and now considering trading the new, unfired gun for a Ruger. She couldn't even take the gun to the range because the RO would have kicked her off the line for the antics she had to go through to rack it.
But I saw the comment about Handi Racker so she's going to give that a try. The gun is really compact and light for her to carry in her special purse. We'll see. S&W should never have let this out of the factory.

Optional? Keep it stored with the slide locked back for 1 day... try it, 2 days... try it, 3 days... try it, and so on. Magazine spring break-in exercise.

FWIW,

I have the exact same problem with my 2 BG 2.0 magazines.
I am wondering if there is a "hitch" inside the magazine. If I load my 2 rounds and ..."exercise" the magazine a bit, then it will load more rounds. Normally, I put 10 into the 12 rounder and 8 into the 10 rounder.

I am unhappy with my experience. Apparently, I didn't read the fine print that the pistol will work... sporadically. I bought it believing it was a typical quality S&W carry gun. Unfortunately, a sporadic carry gun is not a real idea.

In addition, the gun didn't like the Underwood 68 Grain Xtreme Defender but has had no trouble with the standard 90 Grain MagTech.

2500 rounds with mine, I typically shoot at 15 yards, gun is great - I align my front sight near right rear sight because I suck like most folks, even supposed experienced shooters with micros.[/quote

Wouldn’t moving the rear sight to the right a bit achieve the same result?

Wife surprised me this Christmas with a bodygaurd 2.0. So far I've found it 100% reliable with Fiocchi HP's (XTP bullet) and my reloads. Damn accurate too. But the magazines! Cant load past 7-8 rounds without using a Maglula. I can get 10/12 rounds in them, but forget seating the mag with the slide forward. They just sat a week fully loaded and they're no easier to load.
I removed the floor plate of the 10 round mag and loaded it. It sure looks like the spring is close to bottomed... while hoping the folded edges kept the spring in place and not letting it blow out and smack me.
Any solutions? I'll probably be calling S&W Monday.

Keep using your loader and keep shooting.

My M&P 9C is difficult to seat with a fully loaded magazine. My Bodyguard 2.0 is even harder but only with the 12 round magazine. I do not think this is a defect that S&W can fix, just strong springs for reliability.

I called them last week for the same issue and I am sure I was not the first. Don’t expect a useful response.I was told something to the effect that the gun is small and there is not a lot of space.

The solution, or at least for me, is to have the slide locked open if I want to load a full magazine. Or, down load a round if I want to load the magazine with the slide closed.

For anyone struggling with the last round or 2 in the mags, for a while I was unable to fully load without a Maglula. Over 800 rounds in and now I've got 4 12rd mags that can be loaded fully by hand. The 12th still hurts to get in but its not impossible like at first.

I leave them loaded fully and redo it every few days. Took about a month for the springs to loosen up though...

I found my BG2.0 mags were not double stacking when they refused to take 10/12 rounds. One has to make sure the rounds stagger when loading. You can get a full mag to seat with slide fwd one in chamber by inverting and with fingers on slide using thumb to squeeze mag into position. The is due to the extremely stiff springs in the mag. YMMV

What I really like, for a rear sight, is the one from a BG1.0. I have two BG1.0s, with XS sights, so I had two spare rear sights. Unhappily, I don't know if Smith will sell you one of those.
