LE model of Shield??!

Current wholesale price on a Shield is $334. I'm getting 2!!

What is the wholesale price on the M&P 9? I have dealers tell me all the time they can't buy the M&P for what they sell with the LE discount.

And then you can send in your $50 rebate.... So I'm hoping for $315, no sales tax, free shipping, extra magazine and a $50 rebate means $265 total. Then I pay $20 to my FFL.

So my OTD cost is $285 with an extra mag.

I hope... ;)

Any word on the LE version of shield yet? They said July! Few weeks more! I hope!

Hey, I called S&W customer service today to check on the release date of the LE shield release. They told me that there was not going to be an LE release of the shield. I asked if the Shield was going to be offered with night sights. He told me that there was no plans for this either. I guess when I purchase one I will have to install night sights on it myself.

Don't know about an le model but I did hear from a good source that this wonder pistol will be available by fall in 500 S&W.Can't wait to get my hands on one of those!!!

They are making it a one shot pistol, because it's all you'll ever need. You fire the thing one time and you'll never want to fire it again!

:D

I see. When I called the LE rep for smith, they said yes to a LE model in July, maybe he just assumed? Oh well, it would be nice if they offered ,if not at least a LE price!

Will the LE model be different? No safety, perhaps,or does it just come with an extra magazine? I pretty much like the Shield the way it is but an extra mag would be nice.

Havent got me a shield yet, waiting to see LE model has to offer. I would love it if it dint have a safety.

I was told the same exact thing when I called.

You need to speak with Mr. Adams who is not in customer service but is actually the LEO sales representative. After reading this thread I called him this morning and he told me that there will be a LE Shield with an estimated release date around late July or early August.

I picked up my 9MM Shield today. non le ofcourse. I will be adding a set of night sights to it as well as atleast 2 more 8 round mags. As far as the safety is concerned I will never use it so it is a moot point for me. Dave

I know that with Glock, the LE model comes with an extra mag. The gun is exactly the same as the consumer model, but it's $100 less because the factory doesn't have to pay the Gov't excise tax on the gun because it will be used by LE. To buy it, you MUST show your Police ID. No ID, you get the non LE gun. But, because it cost $100 less, it has a lower trade in value. On the Glocks, the label on the LE box is blue instead of pink. That's the only way to tell. Is S&W the same?. GARY N4KVE

I qualify for the "Blue Lable" Glocks and I am NOT and have never been an LEO. I am retired military and have to show my retired military ID at purchase.

Also, how in the wide world of sports does a "Blue Lable" Glock have a lower trade in value???

Under the federal agent direct purchase program, Smith 's policy no longer requires you to provide proof of your LEO ID. Mr. Adams can provide you with the link that gives you acess to all the necessary forms in order to purchase under the FALEO program. I'm assuming this is the same process that applys to all LE, whether federal, state, or local??

Kind of my question also.... If it's the same gun but with one extra mag, how in the world would anyone consider it LESS valuable??? EDIT: Oh, I see, N4KVE said it has a lower trade in value.... So some shop must have tried to pull the wool over his eyes saying his 'blue label' gun was worth less and hoped he'd fall for it.

With S&W you need to be a first responder. You can go to Budspolicesupply and check out the requirements. Pretty much any military, police, security will do, along with commercial pilots and fire department service. The list is quite long and the savings are substantial, but they limit you to two guns a month.

No, at the gunstore where I work, a $500 gun like a pink label Glock is worth $250 on a trade in, since we hope to sell it for $375-$400. But since a LE Glock cost the original buyer $400, it or any other $400 gun is worth $200 on a trade in. This was also the policy at the previous gunstore where I worked. The trade in price is based on what the gun cost new. GARY N4KVE

I was told the same thing by my local LE distributor...

I was told by my LE rep from smith that there will be one. But didn't know what configuration. If u call customer service they will say no, but if u call any smith and Wesson LE rep they say yes!

I'm not being disrespectful, but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

The LE gun is the same exact gun. You cannot tell it is an LE gun. There are no markings, no difference. Without the box you have no idea what I paid for the gun.

To take this silliness one step further..... If the owner sent in for the S&W $50 rebate are you going to offer less because of that??? If not, WHY NOT? He paid less than $400 for the gun, now it's a $350 gun!

And then if he got a VISA credit (my card will do this sometimes) he could have got a $50 rebate also, so now the gun is only a $300 gun. And maybe the owner got some in store discount on ammo with the purchase and a $20 S&W hat. Are you considering that too?

No you guys don't consider that garbage. Because it's just plain ridiculous. A gun is worth what it is worth, and anyone taking $200 for a M&P is not a wise consumer. And anyone who believes that because S&W gave a discount on a firearm to support the law enforcement community and that because of that discount the gun is worth LESS money, well, they aren't very smart.

Not saying you, but the store owners are trying to pull a fast one on the customers. If I sell you my brand new M&P for a dollar does that make it worth a dollar? Or did you just get a heck of a deal?

If I give you a new M&P for FREE, does that mean it has no value? That's exactly what those store owners are trying to tell their customers at trade in. Your gun is WORTH LESS because you got a deal. And that sir is B.S. with capital letters... ;)
