Hello all, does anyone know if S&W offer an LE discount? I know many gun companies do, such as SIG, Glock, etc. The reason I ask is I'm seeing conflicting information about it. On some online dealer websites I see Smith revolvers at greatly discounted prices in the website's "law enforcement " section. But on the other hand, I called S&W customer service this morning and the rep told me in no uncertain terms that they do NOT offer an LE discount.

If, in fact, they do, do any of you guys know if there is a list of available models? Or is it a blanket percentage across the board?

Thanks in advance for any info. As a side note, I'm mainly interested in recent info...I know some companies (Danner boots come to mind) at one time offered discounts and no longer do.

You can go through Bud's and receive a LE discount on some things. S&W is one of the companys that is listed. I bought my- AR that way. You will need to send paper work but Buds shows how to that.

My law enforcement friends buy at the LGS. It is usually the LGS that makes discounts if anything beyond the ususal. I've never heard of a discount other than for large Department purchases.

Buds did say that the paperwork is kept on file so that the gun company's can check to see those receiving the discounts meet the requirements. Plus only a few company's are listed. So S&W must know about this and subsidies it.

Over the years, I've seen multiple discounts and reductions offered for participants of armorer's and instructor schools, as well as general discounts for law enforcement, all direct from the factory.

I've always been able to get a better deal from my LGS. Take that for what it's worth . . .

Most cops I knew had a buddy with an FFL. I have friends who have relatives that work at Sig in New Hampshire. They tell me there's a HUGE employee discount there. Might want to check that route if you have an FB friends who work at Smith.

Is there really that big of a markup on guns? I thought the local gun store got you with the ammo and holsters and headlights and laser rays and stuff like that.

I live in Ohio and buy most of my firearms from Vances in Columbus. S&W offers a LE discount. Just show your I.D.

Thanks for the info, Gents, I'll call an LE vendor listed on their site tomorrow.

RSanch and everyone else mentioning the LGS route. I imagine that is a region-specific topic. I live near the Bay Area and around here, LGS's sell guns for at or above msrp, and they do not negotiate. In most of the country Tavor rifles go for about $1,500...in California through local stores they sell for $2,100.

The SIG pistols I buy through their LE program I get for at least $300 less than I'd pay for through a LGS. So maybe now you'll understand why I'm asking. Hahaha :)

Add to this that FFL transfer and DROS fees range from $70 at the cheapest to $135, and most places charge you California sales tax even on guns imported from out of state...and it's STILL cheaper than buying directly from a LGS.

I think any LE supply that sells to agencies offers an officer price that is discounted. I use Streichers in Minneapolis. Been a few years but they offered an agency price which is tax exempt and an office price. Streichers has several stores around the country. I would guess only typical LE guns offered, not like you could order a 629 or something but I could be wrong.

S&W does it differently.
Their Nation's Finest program offers rebates to LE and military.
Just ordered a M&P 9 Pro 5".
At Buds, with LE pricing, it was $499.
Then S&W rebates me an additional $50.
So $449 is a pretty fair cut from MSRP of $689

Thanks again for all the info! Pinto, unfortunately it doesn't look like I qualify for the "Nation's Finest" rebate. According to everything I have read on their website that is military only, not LE.

On the happy news side, I am once again going to be a revolver owner. I found a new 686 Plus 3" LE model for $679 at Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore and jumped on it. :D That seems like a nice price for what should be a great gun. After watching Hickok45's videos, I'm really warming to the 3" barrel length.

LE Discount

The best I've had is Quantico Tactical.
The have S&W and Sig Sauer LE discounts. They keep your I.D.
information in their data base too.

I occasionally did business with a police supply store (ID required to enter). There was a small discount for individual purchases. I think I recall a little better discount for department purchase plus the FET (11% of the wholesale price) waived with paperwork signed by the agency head.

I haven't used them lately. Retired, still have ID, but I do about as well at the favorite LGS, and the LGS trades better.
