The Mini-14 is very common in prison towers. They're used in at least three prisons here that I know of.

We trained on a regular basis at 100 and 150 yards. The qualification for the M-4 was at a 100 yard target.

In the people's republic of NJ we trained at 100 yards or at 50 yards on a reduced target but I agree with muss, a 100 yard shot in an urban environment is a job for a scoped rifle.
