Actually cast bullet hardness is important beacuse if they're too hard they will not obturate (swell) and seal the bore. Another cause of leading is bevel base bullets for the same reason - the expanding gases will have a tendency to blow by the bullet and leading will result. But there is no reason not to shoot lead in your .41 Mag, I have been using them for many years with no problem.
