I just bought a Kimber K6s (6 shot .357 mag), 2" barrel, which leads pretty badly. My normal practice load is a Hornady 158 gr swaged bullet + 3.4 gr Bullseye, which is a standard pressure load and doesn't exceed Hornady's recommended load.

This same load works great with no leading in all my other .38/.357 revolvers.

I've also tried a coated 158 gr bullet, Brinnell hardness 12 from Missouri Bullets Company, it also leads but not quite as severely.

I've examined the barrel, and it doesn't look rough but isn't quite the mirror smooth appearance of my others. However I did see a very faint ring at the breech end, I assume where the barrel is screwed into the frame.

I've read that a rough barrel can cause leading but what is 'rough'? Could the ring be causing it? If I can find any I'm thinking of giving it a diet of jacketed bullets and see if smooths things out.
