We used ours for duck hunting. I was never happier than when they invented neoprene waders. They were much less likely to leak were easier to move in and repair. Each pair came with a small piece of neoprene and the special glue for the repair that was sure to be needed. I opted for stocking foot and wore a wading shoe or boot over them purely because the seam where the boot was attached was a natural failure point.

Besides from being a great user name on the Orvis forum, that is about the worst thing to endure in frigid water.
I'm inclined to recommend "stepping up" to a new pair! Try to make a repair on the old ones and save them as a back-up if needed (or if your brother-in-law wants to borrow a pair).

Don't know if it's still around, but I found some stuff like shoe goo called RV Goo. Used it a lot. Awning, canvas sides of tent trailer, waders, split seam mud boots, ETC.

My first experience with duck hunting consisted of leaving the stand and a submerged tree limb pocking a hole in them.

They ripped and immediately filled up with water.

That was fun. It was about 30 degrees outside.

Get a pair of the Simms waders made in USA. Their low end ones are made overseas but their higher priced ones are made in Bozeman, Montana. I have been to their factory. After a couple pairs of Orvis waders that developed leaks I busted out and bought a pair of Simms Guide3 waders. Still going after 10 years. Well worth the money. Used Gorilla Glue bonding agent - it is like goop. Water proof. Silver tube. Walmart carries it. I use it for everything!

Aqua seal will stop the leak. It will also stick the boots to each other, pick up any grass and leaves you find and migrate away from the seam due to gravity or heat.

When I first read the title of this thread, for some reason, the first thing that came to mind was a can of "Fix a Flat".

When I was a kid, jump shooting ducks along the shoreline in frigid weather, I used to carry one of those telescoping fishing rod set ups with a bunker snag tied on. Retrieved a lot of ducks while keeping my feet dry.

Shoot the ducks from shore and let your retriever get wet feet. They live for that!
Otherwise, use what I use when beating to weather on my sailboat while being drenched with 50 degree salt water spray every 10 seconds. Mt. Gay rum. Accept no substitutes. Are we having fun yet?

Well you could do what one of hunting pards did on a wood duck hunt.. He stepped out in the beaver pond to put out the last decoy...next to the beaver lodge... the deep entrance to the lodge just fore he hit bottom my other pard and I pulled him up...hard job..there was him and 20 gallons of water in the waders. it was funny with him holding his hand up...saying save me save me. He only had a couple inches more till he hit bottom...it wasn't even neck deep to ol Bill. It was funny with him starting to walk away sounding like an old washing machine slopping water sa loosh sa-loosh sa-loiosh. I had to tell him to let some water out so it would be easier to walk back to the truck.. he looked like the Michelin man...really .my other pard and I had a great shoot...we shot ol Bill's limit too. I mean you couldn't keep them ducks out of that stream/beaver pond... We took him back a few days later...he wouldn't go into that pond again. That stream was down hill from a corn field. Those beavers had cut half an acre of corn off plugging their dam with it...seriously...we didn't bait 'em...musta been 500 ducks in there. Gotta say...ol Bill's waders always seemed to leak...esp over the top.. new waders for next year Caje the water ain't that cold yet...is it??Do what somebody already suggested...use Duck Tape
