The lack of quality ankle leather for the shield has me at a complete loss. Those that ankle carry routinely know there are two holsters far above the rest; the Galco Ankle Glove and the Renegade. I have an Ankle Glove for a J frame that is easily 10 years old or more.

Last year when S&W finally removed the safety on the Shield I jumped on the little pistol bandwagon; I purchased a nice IWB and a DeSantis Die Hard Ankle holster. The IWB holster works fine most days; there are days when I want something a little more undercover than the IWB. The DeSantis holster fell apart after very limited use. Multiple calls to DeSantis customer service went unanswered which leads me to not buy DeSantis again. Now S&W is marketing an ankle rig; it is the dreaded DeSantis Die Hard that fell apart on me except they doubled the price. Granted the customer service from S&W will be far better than my no answers from DeSantis but it is still the same unacceptable quality I received from the DeSantis rig.

On to the question at hand; I have taken to the little M&P and do carry it most days. It just fits my needs well. I do want to get a quality ankle holster (read Galco Ankle Glove) for the little gun. The question for you holster fellas is what non-Smith pistols closely resemble the M&P in size and configuration where an Galco Ankle Glove could be used. The Ankle Glove comes in a wide variety of pistols...just nothing Smith other than J Frames. The complete list is: Bersa, Charter Arms, Colt, FN, Glock, Kahr, Kimber, Para USA, Ruger, Sig-Sauer, Springfield, Taurus and Walther.

ANKLE GLOVE (ANKLE HOLSTER): Holsters & Ammo Carriers: Ankle Holsters at Galco

Surely there is a pistol in the size range of the little M&P that it could share a holster. Surely someone is using a Shield in a holster that is designed for something else.

Cheers,
Sam

The Ankle Glove's leather is molded for a specific firearm and I don't think you will be satisfied with a holster molded for the Springfield XD.

Sorry about your luck with the Die Hard. I personally use a DeSantis Apache on a daily basis and it's still going strong. The Apache also has a nylon gun pocket and can be used with a wider variety of firearms. I would look at Alessi or others and buy a holster meant for the Shield.
