leather or kydex holster for 9C????

i havent had any issues with the pistol trying to come out but its only alittle over a week old. im sure it will happen.
I hope it won't ever fall out. If you have even the slightest concern that your gun will fall out, get another holster pronto. A gun falling out of the holster is unacceptable.

You also have to consider the activities you'll be doing while carrying. Riding a motorcycle is different from driving in a car. Construction work is different from office work. So, the more active you are, the more you want stronger retention.

There are lots of places that offer lefty holsters. Unfortunately, the Shield is still new. So, you may have to get a custom holster and that will cost $75 and up for a decent one. Lobo is a good place as is R Grizzle.

Cost is always a factor so I went to Crossbreeds seconds website and got a super tuck deluxe for my 9c. I swear there isn't a thing wrong with it. I love it and carry it daily in the cooler months. Also picked up a seconds belt.

Cost should not really be a concern when picking a holster...it is carrying a gun that costs many hundreds of dollars, and shot hundreds or thousands of dollars in ammo.

A specific concern of short barrel guns is that a higher percentage of weight is above the belt line. For this reason I really like formed kydex for the 9c.

I have 4 or 5 kydex holsters and have carried my 45c and my 40c in kydex holsters. Fit and retention is excellent. All my kydex holsters are very noisy. They creek & groan with the slightest movement as the kydex belt loops move against the leather belt. I hate it.

I just purchased an Avenger holster from Clark Fork Leather. $50.00 delivered. Avenger Holster | Clark Fork Leather Retention is excellent and there is not the slightest hint of any noise.

The Avenger rides close to my body and so far has proven to be extremely comfortable....to the point that I literally forget I have it on.

No financial interest in Clark Fork Leather; just a satisfied customer.

I prefer Kydex in as small a profile as possible. I had one custom made for my 9c. Super comfortable and easy to wear. https://www.facebook.com/SquaredAwayCustoms

Have a m&p 9c that I have been wanting to have as my edc. I am getting an iwb holster. My issue is this: Leather does not have the retention that a kydex holster would have. On the other hand, kydex is much harder on a guns finish (vs leather). What are your thoughts?

I'll let the link do all the talking:

Best holsters out there IMHO, tried them all, have about four different ones for different guns. Kydex with leather inside. Less then two week turn around time. I use the Silent Thunder STM w/ both IWB or OWB mounts option. Quality, fit, function is the best. You won't be disappointed.

Please be careful using any soft fabric style holsters for striker fired gun without manual thumb safety. Someone on another forum (car buff site) posted details and pics where the soft fabric edge folded into trigger guard and it fired the handgun while he holstered his handgun.

He posted pics where he removed the clip on holster right after discharge and holster was actually still pressing the trigger to the rear...
