I have been working up some new .45 acp loads on my Lee Turret Press with the Lee Pro Auto-Disk and ran into something unusual. According the Lee Charts the Lee Pro Auto-Disk .61 cavity should drop 5.6 Unique and the .66 cavity should drop 6.0, now I know some variation is normal and to be expected but I find to get consistent drops of 5.6 I need to use the .71 cavity and the .76 cavity to get drops of 5.9 - 6.1 of Unique. I recalibfated and checked the digital scale and also verified the charges on a beam scale and got the same results. Any thoughts or concerns. Thank-you

Go with what the scale tells you.If you can get consistent charges from the lee with unique, that's great. If not try bullseye,it's another good one for the 45.

Go by the scale not the chart.

Some powders are close some not even close. Even my jar of the same powder may be different than yours.

I use the same Lee setup as well as Unique and several other powders. I also have to step up a disk cavity size or two from what the chart says to get the proper weight by scale. The chart is only a starting point. Agree that some powders will be closer than others. So, it looks unanimous. Congratulations, you are normal!

Always go by the scale reading. While some powders are better than others I have yet to find one single powder that doesn't have some variation in the weight/volume relationship from lot to lot. It's why I record the lot number along with the setting for the micro adjuster on my Uniflo Competition powder measure.

The listing is just a starting point, go with what the scale says, write down the hole size, weight and the powder, then you'll know what to do next time, your press, your scale.

I use the discs and get good results. I fill the measure let it sit for a bit to settle the powder. But yes I always check with a scale. Universal was the only that seemed off from the corresponding disc # for me. In the back of lees book there is a chart for the conversions

If you are getting consistent metering from a Lee Pro Auto Disk and Unique powder, that in itself is a miracle. Just use whatever disk size you need (checked by a scale) and be happy. Never could get my Auto Disk to measure Unique consistently.

Thank you everyone for the info and I will say out of all the powders I haved used so far Unique and Power Pistol give me the most trouble and the least consistency. Usually the Unique will throw between 5.8 -6.1 and I'm trying to get 5.9 but if memory serves me correctly the max is 6.6 so I still have a safety margin. Power Pistol is usually much more inconsistent and I have a few loads in it I really like but hate to load because of the hassle. Thank you
