for those trapshooters or former shooters or anyone else who knows who this man is,it is my sad duty to inform everyone that leo past away last night in a hospital in st. Louis. he was stricken with a stroke during the grand American trapshooting event recently. he was a perennial member of the all American team and the most genial of all the big name shooters. I have had the pleasure of shooting with him at a number of state and ata regional shoots back before I had to leave the sport. the shooting world lost one of the best last night.

How Sad. I sat with Leo and his Wife at the Western Grand at the Spokane club for lunch a few years back.
Leo was not only one of the ALL TIME greatest Trap shooters, but a gentleman as well.

What a loss.

Leo was probably not very well known outside trapshooting circles, but he was the best known and most recognizable figure within the sport. I had the opportunity to observe him at many state shoots and at several Grand Americans. He was as fierce a competitor as there was in trapshooting, BUT ONLY ON THE LINE. When he was between events, he was very friendly and approachable; when he was bested in a shoot-off, his congratulations to the winner were genuine. Unlike many who are very successful in their field, he was nice to everyone, even those who couldn't do him any good.

I have been shooting trap since 1973. Have visited with Leo and Karla many times. As has been said he would stop and talk to everyone the same with Karla. Two great people, prayers go out to Karla and the children.
