This incident happened in my old home town of Laurel Mississippi, I discovered it on the online newspaper. Here is their account of what happened.Seems the boys were ruffed up somewhat. http://motorhomediaries.com/jo...ly-arrests-mhd-crew/ There is also an interview by Judge Napolitano of Fox news. He says they have got a case in federal court, and that they should sue. The live interview can be heard here http://freedomwatchonfox.com/category/podcast dated 5/20/09 just run the tab over to about the 48 minute mark.

I merely get tired of people searching the net for every story in the world of police misconduct. There MUST be a forum somewhere for cop bashing, and I would suggest that people obsessed with it hang out there. I just don't see the relationship to S&W's.
Many of our members here are LEO's, and do a thankless, but absolutely necessary job for low pay(no, I didn't miss your LE background).
There are lousy plumbers, mechanics, doctors, and painters also, but I'm not obsessed with them, either. Bad doctors, mechanics, and electricians probably kill FAR more people than bad cops.

Absolutely true for doctors, I am sure.

However, doctors, mechanics, and electricians don't possess state-sanctioned use of force, nor the power to deprive you of liberty and property. The police do.

Those with greater power need to be held to a higher standard. From the little and wholly one-sided story posted here, it is possible a cop went on a fishing expedition ("obscured plate" - please) that escalated into an ego-match when the occupants did not display sufficient servility.

I would love to read "the rest of the story."

I got bored reading and admitidly quit 1/3 way.
It was evident to me this group were trying to act like the civil rights adjutaters in the early 60s hopeing for a event. Lets see. Northern motorhome, with a mixed group. Passenger comes out with video camera. Things were too "pat". Guns broke down according to law, paper plates, old marijuana thesis papers etc, pat ready answers of dogs etc. What little I read it was evident to me that the group were cruseing hopeing to get stopped, rehersed answers etc. And wanted to record everything. Do they not think there isnt a lot of us oldtimers from the 60s and know the drill?

First I am ex-LEO from Mississippi with a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Mississippi. That said I first would weigh in with the LEO.

I read half the article and plain these guys were instigating the sitution. For sure they were guilty of POP- 'pissing off the police"

Agree with Handejector wish people would bash cops some where else. I feel sure the ACLU was a forum page for this trash

Great organization, I am sure this crowd will help the Free State re-write their laws regarding firearms, but not for the better.

As said to me many times, the outsiders coming into NH are the ones who are going to ruin the state. At this moment, it is a great state regarding firearm ownership, but for how long. Put the stick into the bee hive.

If you want a lively discussion on police conduct (and misconduct) visit the sigforum.com. Its owned and administered by our former owner here.

Para keeps an open mind on the subject. He's pretty balanced in his views, and as long as you express opinions that seem well reasoned, he'll allow it. He doesn't allow general cop bashing, either, but he freely bashes those who feel anything a cop does is OK, too.

For examples of that, over the last couple of days both the Birmhingham incident, where 5 cops stomp an unconscious suspect, and the Kali incident where a prisoner tries to surrender and is kicked in the head were well covered.

Those were interesting because both had video of the incidents. Its interesting because of the opposing views, and because we had posters who didn't see anything wrong with the bad guys getting stomped.

This is Lee's forum, he can approach the subject any way he pleases. Many of our posters here also post over there. You can belong to both groups.

Sorry if that came off as being a smart a** Lee?
It wasn't meant to be, if it did it was executed poorly. I was just trying to add support to what 7.62 had said, about no random knocking of LEO's being tolerated.

Likely; however, it has to be rare that a doctor, lawyer, or electrician tramples, knowingly or otherwise, your rights under foot. Even rarer for them to have the power to do so.

I hope to make my posistion clear. I am not a LEO basher unless telling the truth as it happened to me is considered bashing. They do indeed have a tough and thankless job. That doesn't mean they should be a different or better class of citizen. As law applies to non-leos so should it apply to Leos. Blind support for any rep of the government is not healthy for freedom and make no mistake they do represent govenrment. These are they some of the people who will be ordered to collect our firearms if that dark day comes. Will they turn on their bosses or will they turn on freedom? I'm hear to tell you that some will turn on freedom. If that's bashing well we are in more trouble then even I thought. We need
LEOs now more than ever but when they step out of line they need to be regined in, these days that happens less and less. I was left to fend for myself in several dangerous situations becaused I dared to treat another LEO that had stepped over that line like I would have anyone else. This was after I had put myself on the line for fellow LEOs several times. I was driven out and turned sour on a job I had wanted since I was a young boy. Am I resentful? Yes. Does it cloud my perpsective? I hope not.

What worries me Dick is the number of "incidents" that don't make the news because no one had a camera near by and the "code of silence".
