I just have a few in my very modest assortment of handguns, but each is special to me . . . and each has a reason/purpose, except for one safe queen . . .
A .32 Long from 1916 . . . a great shooter with an incredible trigger! BTW, I shot a local steel match with it a couple of weekends ago . . . in the .22 rimfire class (and they let me do it since it would put me at a "disadvantage"). I won the class with this 95 year old tackdriver!
I was hoping this one was from my birth year (1951) but it ended up being made in 1950 . . . about the time I was conceived. Another great shooting gun . . . and good lookin' too! Shot it in the same steel match in the CF revolver class, and it had the fastest time of any CF category that day, beating all the autos too on the 100 target scores! Loved making the young bucks cry by getting beat by a 60 year-old shooting a 61 year old wheelgun. They couldn't miss fast enough against a fast-shootin' senior citizen who hardly ever misses! Brought back fond memories of my competitive years in the sport!!! LOL
From the '62-'64 time frame, a diamond, flat-latch; and like all pinned-barrel nickel plated revolvers shown here, with original grips numbered to the gun. My knees get weak and my wallet lighter when I spot "diamonds" for sale somewhere/anywhere! . . .
In its Rosen UPL holster I bought from a forum member in the classified section . . .
Its FIRST target after I got it . . . ten yards into a 1" black square, standing/unsupported! Hmmm . . . I think its a KEEPER!!!
One of the first non-pinned barrel Model 19s from 1982 . . . recently gifted to my son. Like his dad, he does his best markmanship with Smith revolvers . . .
And the safe queen . . . a fired Model 27-2 purchased from a fine forum member . . . but its too danged nice to motivate me to shoot it yet . . . which makes it the first gun I've ever owned that I didn't shoot. Oh well . . . maybe SOME day, and yes, I'll probably shoot it one day. Gorgeous 27-2 from 1970 with the standard trigger and original magna stocks that were on the 3 1/2" guns in the early '70s. IMHO, the magnas ROCK on the 3 1/2" guns!!!
