The girls got their heads together and decided to go to a Casino.
They normally give the food away, to get you into the doors.....

Well times have changed.
The Circus Circus in Reno, no longer has a Buffet.......
Their sister, the Eldorado wanted $36 a person.
The Atlantis wanted $38 a person and Boomtown asked $42 each.

However we were in luck if we went to the Sparks Nugget where
they only asked $20 for their Easter Sunday Buffet that consisted
of Italian food !!

Remember when going out to an Easter breakfast or lunch was fun?

Going to "Plan B" !!

PLAN " B" !!

Looked high and low for a decent Easter Buffet ( Just Mrs. Ditrina and adult daughter.

A safe bet is one of the major hotels here on Orlando..USED TO BE that is:eek:

Called three of them average price $70.00 per head with the worst at $80.00 before parking tax tip etc..

For about the price of ONE meal we went to COSTCO and picked up a whole fillet mignon. Trim.. cut steaks.. hot grill and enjoy!:D

The wife and I are going, as we do every year!

Ed, I always enjoyed Reno for what it WAS. A no frills, gritty, blue collar, rail center where one could drink, gamble, and raise within reason a little hell. Sadly most of that is long gone.

My normal brunch spot is closed today, so I'll have to try D.D.

There is a nearby Indian restaurant, the India Oven, which always has special buffets for major holidays, including Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, etc. That always seemed incongruous to me, but their prices are right, usually under $20. I have never been to one of their holiday buffets, but I have eaten their regular lunch buffets numerous times, and the food is good, even though I really don't know what most of it is. There are a good many Indians (India Indians) living in the San Antonio area, so there are numerous Indian restaurants.

I haven't been to Las Vegas recently, but the last time I was there, I was appalled by the buffet prices at the casinos on the strip. There were still some more reasonably priced buffets to be found in the downtown casinos, but not as fancy or extensive as those at the big casinos. They have probably ceased to exist by now also.

Ham, Cheesy potatoes, Green beans, and corn. Fixed in about an hour after church. Dessert was all the Easter candy the grandkids could eat.

Plan "B";

My wife had the Senior half dozen Shrimp and the salad bar.

I had the Half slab of Ribs and the full salad bar for a total of... $32.98

Ribs, BBQ beans, Broccoli and Garlic bread, plus..........
Salad and all the deserts, brownies etc. that you can eat.

We were all stuffed and enjoyed every bite.
Happy Easter to all.

We used to go to casino/hotel buffet dinners for the holidays sometimes. Some are good, some were bad, and all were overpriced! For over 30 bucks a person, I would rather a good platter from a local seafood joint, or a Ruth's Chris steak. But honestly, it is easier to just put a nice roast or leg of lamb in the oven or grill, and spend time with family. Or just watch racing on the big screen. Can't beat home cooking!

The Circus Circus in Reno, no longer has a Buffet.......
It's been a few years since we stopped in Reno, but the Harrah's had a good buffet when we were there.
When we drive cross-country, we stay at Harrah's if there's any along our route, since they comp us rooms. The one in Reno distinguished itself by finding me on the gaming floor and giving me vouchers for comp dinner and breakfast buffets, both good.

Glad Plan "B" worked out for y'all, and a happy Easter to you too. :)

At home: Honey baked ham, fried green beans, potato salad, whole kernel corn, sliced tomatoes, rolls, homemade chocolate pound cake and pecan pie. You can't beat that. I was stuffed.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Well I had an unusual Easter Dinner......Because my wife is out of town on a family member's medical emergency event, I got to cook the meal I was planning on for the two of us, just for me.... :-( ..... I expected her to be back Saturday night, but circumstances prolonged her stay.

I went ahead and cooked the planned meal just as though she was here. I cooked "Spicy Beer Shrimp" with sticky rice and added carrot and celery sticks on the side. I had warmed fresh whole wheat French Bread and a little cup of pears. The recipe called for 2/3 cup of beer. That necessitated opening one beer. I drank that other 1/3 cup and that tasted so good I opened another beer just for myself, ahem....the master cook, ... :-)

I added a nice cold California Riesling to the meal. When I finished my meal I felt like a desert, so went back to the stove and got myself 3 more of the jumbo shrimp. I took pictures of the meal being cooked and then on the table and sent them to my wife. My wife, the true Chef, congratulated me and informed me that just as soon as she was home I get to cook that meal again.

The dogs sat around and watched me eat. Then they wondered why I wandered off to my lounge chair and we DIDN'T go to the local Dog Park right after lunch as usual. In fact they didn't get to the dog park until about 5pm. ....... I had a great Easter Dinner. It was just a little lonely, but the dogs hung on every word of my conversation with them. ...........

Took wife and grown children to Indian Casino called Feather Falls for their champagne brunch, which had Mongolian BBQ, prime rib, crab legs, shrimp, crepes, salads, pastries, choice of juices, coffee, etc, taco bar, soups, you name it. Cost me $120 for five, then won that much in the casino on penny machine. Nice way to balance out the meal. Sunday too hectic with church to cook a decent meal, they voted buffet, off we went. No dishes to wash!

We have a couple of very good Chinese buffets here. My favorite is as good and almost as large as any of the Las Vegas buffets, and they have a lot of non-Chinese items on it, plus a superb Mongolian BBQ. Senior price is under $10/person, even cheaper if you go in the mid-afternoon before 3:30. You can't do nearly that well anywhere in Las Vegas.

What did we do for Easter? Went to the Whataburger.

ED; Many years back my wife & I always went to The Nugget in Carson City. They had at that time a wonderful buffet. Haven't been there in a long time but I can imagine their prices have gone up like everything else. If I remember right the buffet was 12 bucks. a head
