I have wanted a snub 22 for a long time. About 10 years ago, a Lew Horton model 63 fell into my lap.

The 22 just lit the fire for more, and I was off looking for a 22 Mag snubby. About 3 years ago a S&W distributor was cleaning house and offered a mess of Centennial 22 Mags - model 351c, for a song. I snapped one up, but probably should have bought 3.

Here a few weeks before Thanksgiving, I ran across another 22 Mag, but this time it was a model 651. I guess Christmas came early for me. I had to wait a few weeks to pick it up due to my FFL being shut down due to the entire staff having contracted Covid-19, then travel for work got in my way. Long story short, I got this one picked up middle of this week.

I know that I am a fan, how about you guys?

About 15 years ago I was offered a 651 ( AS, think I got the model right) snubby for $400 at a small gun show in NY from a retired cop, private sale. Two inch ? barrel 22 mag.

I thought who needs a snubby 22 mag with AS. Those guns are going for ridiculous money and have been for quite awhile.

I think about that often.

This is the 351C that was given to me by a friend. I changed the grip to the Hogue grips that I had on my 342 Ti. Just a bit larger than the original grips but feel much better in my hand. Still conceals pretty much the same. The speed loader is harder to conceal.

I only have this one lonely rimfire snubby, but it's a keeper. A S&W 351PD 22 magnum snubnose. I bought it mostly to drop in the pocket of my PJ's when 4 legs has to go outside. We're out in a rural area and often see possum, skunks, racoons and an occasional Mr. wiggly. I usually have the first two chambers loaded with 22 WMR shotshells for them.

I's a great carry piece with 7 rounds of 22 magnum at the ready. I would not feel uncomfortable carrying this little fella to the grocery or anywhere else for that matter.

That is EXACTLY why I bought the 351c. So light and easy to just drop into basketball shorts or PJ's. 7 rounds of CC! MAXI Mag ought to do the trick on miscreants and the CCI Shotshells work well on our local copperhead population.

We have a member here who dispatched 2 VC with 22 Mag in 'Nam. His story is probably still on the board, but I haven't the faintest idea how to find it. As many people bash the 22LR and Mag, there are 10x quiet supporters and true believers.

17/19 Frankengun M17-2 RB with a 2.5 in. M19 barrel

Sometimes I just get bored

Ned

I have a friend that gets bored too! He had a 6 inch Model 1& chopped to 4 inches. I asked him why not buy a Model 18 with the 4 inch barrel. His reply was I wanted a 17 in 4 inch. His gunsmith did a nice job, but.........
