I was just down at the city compost/yardwaste sight and just started dumping my leaves. Heard a jet going over; could tell it was high and military. We live about 40 miles east of Offutt AFB, so military jets aren't unusual, but I always try to see what is flying over. Anyway, I look up and see a bigger twin engine passenger style plane (757,777) with three fighters escorting it.
One out front and one on each side. When I saw the fighters, I lookd again at the big plane trying to see 4 engines like Air Force 1 has, but it was obvious that it just had 2. They were high enough to tell they weren't headed to Offutt. Any ideas?

I would only worry if there was a fourth fighter flying under it... (bomb dropping, preventative maneuver)

Offutt sounds more operational than Nellis. Apart from the Thunderbirds doing a salute to the medical community, it has been dead quiet around Vegas. Word has it that the test and training ranges are closed down, which would match up with a quiet Nellis.

A toilet paper delivery with fighter escort? More than likely a high ranking officer! I doubt they would waste such resources on a mere politician.

OP said the plane had two engines, that rules out a KC-135.
It could have been a KC-10. They turn off the middle engine when refueling quite often.

It probably wasn't KC-46. Pretty sure those are only at Edwards and up in Washington right now. The ones at Edwards aren't flying right now.

Speaking of KC-10s...
