Not familiar with either of the ones you mentioned.

Since the frequency for which I need a light mounted on my AR is very, very low (thus far, I've only found them necessary for training courses), I opted for a good mount and use one of several lights I use for various tasks.

I use a Daniel Defense mount.....the light happens to be a SureFire.

The ones I listed are about $100. And they are from like 470lumes to 600lumes.

You will blind yourself if you use a light that powerful indoors, also how much battery life do those lights have!

I also use a polytac, it is a no frills light that should get you to light up 100 yards give or take, and wont blind you indoors.
130 lumens 3 hours runtime (at that output) I believe you have an additional 5 hours at 15 lumens. It has a nice bright throw with spill light around it, kind of like a spot light and flood light in one. It is simple to use (push for momentary, click for constant on) there is no beam adjustment and as far as I know you can not upgrade the led (don't need to though), loosen the top cap to prevent the light being knocked on by accident. Best part is you can find them for 25-30 dollars!

I have the klarus Xt11 and it is really bright but I dont have or see a paddle switch for it. Perhaps the next light down in the series would be a better weapon light. Look at Klarus XT2c.

I got the Inforce WML from Brownells for about $129. They have a version with an IR setting, but as I dont have any night vision equipment, I got the standard version.

I like the Streamlight TLR-1 as mounted on my Bushmaster. Bright, compact, good battery life, and an excellent spot beam with good peripheral beam overflow. Paddle operated, but a pressure switch is also available. About $100.00

I have one of these, light weight and not to bright for indoors. I also have a surefire with a 450 lumen led bulb, If I use it indoors I can't strobe with it or else I will blind myself.

anyone know a good way to filter the light?

I have one standard flashlight for my homebuilt but I never use it indoors, I am no help when it comes to lights on an AR...LOL

I have the Streamlight TLR-2s for my 1911 with a rail. I'll probably just use it on the M&P15 if needed. It's a great light/laser combo.

If you don't mind going the $100.00 price range, a Pelican M6 LED for a rifle weapon light for home defense if thats what you want a weapon light for. Its got just about the perfect beam size and light balance for a good indoors home defense light or CQB light that won't hinder you, and reliable too.

We use them on our weapons. Have subjected them to just about any abuse you could throw at them, everything from high speed impact, drops onto concrete from 100 feet, high heat, submersion, running them over with multi ton vehicles. Sure, gonna get a broken lens at some point subjecting it to that type of abuse because at some point something is gonna smack straight into the lens, but the darn things just kept working no matter what happened to it. If it ever does break for any reason, Pelican will replace it for free for ever.

It will probably out last me and my decendants. If something happened to it I would actually be sad, it would be almost like loosing a faithful and trusted friend.
